    More N or weed control

With apologies to those struggling to get their first N on My wheat got 50gk N+S03 3 weeks ago next Tuesday. Walking round with the agronomist yesterday and we would like to get some BWS on to tackle some particularly nasty brome. The dilemna being, do I top the N up first or herbicide. My gut...

    Simtech owners Thoughts, tips, advice

I've been meaning to do this for ages, sorry if it's been done before and would be interested in others doing it for other drills, also interested in hearing from other tined DD users. Just going into our second season with ours. A bog standard 3m box drill. First impressions are. Really happy...

    Antipoedeicle Job swaps

Yeah I know I've probably just made the word up or misspelled it Looking at the adverts for workers on the other side of the world, and feeling cold and miserable in grey old England. Was wondering if anyone had ever considered setting up or set up a reciprocal job share kind of arrangement...

    Do you trust our bosses?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-63065194 Probably a very regional issue, and I don't like to think of myself as a conspiracy theorist but this has stunk from worse than the dead shellfish from the day they first started washing up on the beach.

    Refurbishing Simba 3 discs

I have an old, but very serviceable 3.5m 12' set of Simba 3 discs, could do with a new set of discs on it. Anyone done it? Where is the best place to get discs and how hard is it to do? Looks like I would have to drop the shafts and slide them off and back on from either end? TIA Tony

Does anyone know anything about it? Snake oil? A replacement for poor soil and plant health management? Or a new tool to help improve efficiency? I did a search and there are articles from Corteva and CPM but can't find out much more :(...

Compound, N Compound, Straights, other Polysulphate etc, or nothing foliar feed.

As a lot of you know I have been trying to build fertility and OM and reduce 'bagged' compound use. I have used nothing but Polysulpjhate and Calfos with OM for the last 4 years last year topped up with foliar K which I will happily do again. Any way results are back again this year and similar...

    Late 2nd wheat or oats?

I have a field that might, just might, be fit to drill at the back end of the week. It is down for oats but am starting to wonder what yield I might hope for from a 2nd wheat? It is only a small stupid field and would bring it back in to the same rotation as the bigger one beside it. Thoughts...

    Early Nitrogen for tillering

It's been a while since I have come out of a winter with wheat that needs thickening. Normally my high seed rates mean the opposite. Some of the late drilled stuff on contract land is s bit thin though. Normally we would roll, allow it to recover then N then BWS or vice versa. Obviously rolling...

    Class 6030 CP lowering slowly

As per title. Normally she is really quick, up and down but it is really slow at the moment and hardly works at all in float or when auto boom suspension kicks in, it's slightly better in standard but still not right. Anyone had similar and solved it, am guessing at check valve or maybe even...

The FARMING forum (meaning farmer input from anywhere globally)

Truly inspired IMHO it is great to read of others trials, tribulations and triumphs from around the globe. Long may it continue. P.S. Does that make me a globophile rather than a europhile?

    NH TX 65 advice

Good evening all, cutting rape with my TX 65, I set the secondary beater to low speed and everything going alright but every now and then it is giving an alarm, particularly if I drop header a bit and feed a bit more straw through. Drum is ok, don't want to go to high speed as there is a bit of...
