Could it be, that there are issues with the stomach in this case ??
It is noticable, that this pet-lamb is not keen after the bottle. It drinks when we grab him and give him the bottle, but after he feels obviously not better, coughes sometimes too.
Is it possible that he does not move his back...
Update which might rule out joint illness: when the lamb lays down, it perfectly bends all it joints and curls up like any other lamb. Yesterday our vet had a look again and checked the joints and said that all was fully movable and no sign for stiffness in the joints, only one knee joint had...
I know, but my question is how to prevent it for the future ??
We lamb our Easycares from mid-april on outside on the paddock beside the farm, take them in pens in the polytunnel after lambing for a day for observation, tagging, etc. and let them out to the next paddock.
Is there a golden rule...
Hmmm, joint illness seems obvious but when we touch the joints they feel not hot, not swollen and completely normal - two vets and one human doctor and one chiropractor (both friends of us) came to the same conclusion.
Can there be some kind of joint illness that keeps cold and does not swell...
Last year we had one lamb with this case that didn' t make it and this year we have one again and another with less symptoms but the same : about 3 weeks old, the lamb get stiff in the back legs, makes a hump and moves the stiff back legs only when walking slowly - when it runs, it lifts up the...
Rock salt certainly - just hang it up somewhere for the lambs right after birth or when the first signs are coming ?? And what does it do ??
Tubby buckets are not known as far as I know - what is in it ?? And lambs go for it ?? For ewes and lambs ??
We have scabby mouth now the 3rd year in row here in our small flock in germany which is a PIA really and effects quite a few lambs. We lamb our Easycare shedders outdoors from end april on, so treating affected lambs is not that easy.
It starts to show on maybe 2 weeks old lambs and we also...
Flock size is not that big to justify different terminal breeds ......
We have outruled Texel, Charolais, Suffolk, etc. to ensure easy lambing as we use to let the ewes lamb unattended outdoors on grass and don`t want to have more trouble with lambing than unavoidable - huge lambs from these...
We have EasyCare-Sheep originally from Iolo Owens Flock and keep them on our arable farm on very good fodder, basically it`s either pure italian ryegrass which we grow for grasseed production or it`s any kind of covercrop over winter, so all highly palatable and energy-rich. Problem is, not only...
I`m trying to optimize my mix sown as a covercrop after cereal harvest to fatten lambs on during autumn and early winter. To add diversity and have another legume fixing N, I find Lupins interesting, for soil health also.
But: what about lupinosis ??
Does anybody know or ideally do graze lambs...
I guess it might not affect the flavour, but for any reason it is a no-go for muslimic consumers here, which are the main customers for this abattoir. It is simply not acceptable for these people, don`t know why.
I`m not sure that these are my lambs, that is in fact a serious issue !! Heads...
Had just sold some late ram lambs to my local abattoir and got a really bad feedback because their fat turned yellow shortly after slaughtering, see picture !?!
That`s totally unbelievable to me as we`ve already butchered far more lambs this winter directly for consumers or sold to my local...
That's the point: it is not organised by any "leaders" here !! It's plain farmers protest organised by farmers on social medias and spread that way - no NFU etc. involved !!
What do you think will happen if you cry out for a protest here on TFF, giving a mobile number for WhattsApp and a link to...
On tuesday the probably biggest protest ever will happen right in the center of Berlin. Farmers all over germany are driving in huge convois with overnight stays towards Berlin, trucking tractors on lowbed-trailers and countless farmers come by bus, train or car to support the protests.
It`s...
Hmmm, nothing so far ...... are there some folks already turning up at the camping site on the tuesday late afternoon, so it could be worth for us to come along for a chat ?? Maybe even a kind of warm-up-party at the Earthworm Arms on tuesday evening ??
We`re probably a handful of experienced DDers from germany looking for somebody to visit or something to see on the tuesday late afternoon/evening before Groundswell to utilise our time in UK !
Preferrably in reachable distance from Royston & Bedford (Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire). We`re...
