I did't know where to post this - so here goes. Local Knowledge needed. We are going to be in the area and thought it would be a nice day out.
We won't know anyone but considering getting a membership so at least we could sit down and watch the main arena events. And - what is the food like...
I don't know the full details of our application as my son has done it, but he hasn't taken any land out of production. Hedges, low input grass and something else. We are arable and beef and have quite a lot of grass keep. We need straw for the cattle.
Maybe the price of wheat and barley will...
I think this is disgraceful. When my daughter was training for an NHS job, not a nurse, she got a Bursary towards living costs, didn't have to pay university fees as it was funded by the NHS. All she had to find was her day to day living costs as the bursary just about covered the rent of her...
Milton Keynes was supposed to stop at the motorway, but has now gone the other side and masses of what was farm land is now covered with industrial units.
Yes, poisonous. I remember climbing a couple of laburnums as a child and we were always told not to eat the seeds. Amazing we survived.
Someone had some cows and calves in a large field that surrounds the church. They managed to get through a gate into the church yard one evening which has...
We had a Planning Specialist who worked for us, but was paid by the developer who eventually bought the land.
I think he went round to suitable developers who he thought would be interested in the size of the plot.
Give the Developer his due, he told us what the offer was at the first...
It would affect the value of the house. Some people wouldn't bother, but it would put off a lot more.
There is a house not far from me that has been on the market for nearly 1 year with a pylon in the garden. Those houses usually sell straight away. It looks as though it has been sold now...
If there is bullying take it up with the school. They should have robust policies in place and if they faff around point out that children have killed themselves after being badly bullied. *
That they "didn't know" about the dogs frightening the sheep is probably correct, people just don't...
In towns, yes. But I expect there are plenty in villages, see my two examples above.
Also, you might find someone who has bought a house with land which is too much for an ordinary garden but not enough to rent to a farmer, and then it becomes a bit of a nuisance.
I seem to be acting as my son's bank offering a loan scheme. I do have something in writing, more as a aid to memory than anything else, so no-one forgets that it is a loan and not an outright gift, which can be called in at any time! It is surprising how easy it is to forget things.
I least...
I know a farming couple who rent out a field for people to grow their own vegetables and fruit. I think it started out with a few people, but has dwindled down to not very many now, but they are still going. This is quite far out in the country, I would say about 10 miles at least from the...
OH buys nearly all our machinery at farm sales, including combines and tractors. He has bought things that turned out to have quite major faults that weren't apparent at the time. Occasionally a telephone call to the auctioneer has been made, but basically its always the same message. Sold as...
A local dairy farmer used to drink milk from the tank and one day their children had some friends over to tea. Of course the Mother didn't give it a thought, but the visiting children became very ill as they had drunk the unpasturised milk.
Personally I would not drink raw milk. After all...
I was hit by an uninsured driver and no-one including the Police took any notice at all. The insurance company said he wasn't worth chasing as he had so many County Court judgements against him so there was 0 likelihood of getting any money.
Reported to two Police Stations that this person was...
