.308 would be my first choice with readily available ammo and the ability to raise or lower your bullet weight subject to target requirement and rezero. .270 win comes a close second, very flat shooting out to 200m but mine seems to like 130grn bullets the best. .243cal for smaller deer species...

Saw this thread this morning and just knew my licence had expired, checked and was a few days out. Online and £14.00 later plus a call to DVLA confirms as stated above that as long as there are no medical or driving bans current I am ok to drive. New one should be with me in three days.
