Thought might been something to do with milking,
fair play to you,
I guess no distractions until rest of the world start waking up,so can just crack on,
makes sense ,i usually get more done between 6-9pm as alot are finished for the day at 5 so nobody to hold me up.
ah take same pick in mid winter ;) pissing rain with sheep not playing ball
I get where your coming from though , some days ,probably majority days farming better lifestyle,
But when have young family to pay for etc its all about the money here sadly!
In that situation id be off,
but its
Maybe because i went straight to work away from farming i realise how much others get,and the amount of work needed to earn that £25 per hour.
I understand just labouring should be £15-£18 per hour as thats what most i knowwho labour only and dont have to do...
Sheep low skilled job when actually doing the work, can pick it up after a few goes ,
but
gathering in, picking up on issues, sorting those issues,
Planning the future for the flock etc
and doing all the above speedily ,
I dont think they should be on anything less than £25 an hour,
Ag rates seem too low compared to another industry that has similar level of skill
,certain areas of the construction industry,
seems to be a mindset of low pay and work the hours to earn the good money,i guess the “love of it” keeps pay low ,along
With the low returns
,it going take one...
I still dont get how anybody who self employed working in any industry ,45 hours a week,(not inc all extra hidden hours you do, paper work ,ordering materials /consumables etc.)
can work for less than £25 an hour ,
And
still leave some profit to invest at the end of the year,
might aswell go...
Couldnt agree more !
I cant see how any self employed person,
can charge any less then £25 per hour,
time you take insurances ,tax ,no holiday pay ,
The hassle of self employment etc,
I think a reasonable earning is £36 per hour ex vat at least it pays for everything and you end up with some...
This what was suggested to me ,
But im thinking of checking at least 1-2 times a week to pick up on issues before they get out of control,
And so i don't get a call on a sunday
Never charged myself out on ag rates
Seems so cheap when compare to other industries,
Construction ,
i dont know any self employed under £25 hour and good tradesman who got more kit and had to train up for 3-4 years are on £36 ex vat,
Fag packet workings on hours
I reckon minimum hours wise id be somewhere in 110 hours per year on pet flock
And 350 hrs on lambing flock
This includes from the minute i leave home until i get back ,
Does hours sound about right?
Cheers ,
i think they both just want sheep looked after right
There not over worried about the money
I think there is abit of benefit to them being classed as “farmers” and also they need something keep the grass down,
Anybody on here look after other peoples small flocks?
80 ewes ,20 ewe lambs
outdoor lambing ewes only, no hard feed,
Ring fenced,
Labour only ,kit on site iae race and few hurdles,
Checking once everyday bar Sundayexcluding lambing,
how much you roughly charge for the year?
And
again any...
Just wondering What everybody else’s business loan rates are at?
Lowest i have found so far (haven’t looked to deep into it)
is a 6% small business government back loan,
looking at a fixed rate ,repayment over 5 years,
Looking at borrowing £25-£30,000.
any body got any recommendations...
I could definitely increase profits with more automated machines and it would give opportunities to employ somebody,
Got some thinking to do,
but talking to a few people today about property
The returns are not as good as expanding,so
im leaning more towards pumping it into business or even...
