Just an update on this if anyone else is having a similar issue. The problem was fixed by adjusting the cable and lock nut underneath the cab where the PTO selector goes through the cab. Thanks for the help

The only thing that makes me think the clutch is that it grinds when you put it in to 1000 PTO it doesn’t grind at all for 540 so more then likely it might be the cable. Or the gear has lost all its teeth somewhere

I’ll be checking this next time I’m out. The other thing i was thinking was the clutch plate stuck. Although it make no noise at all in 540 ( possibly because it’s not moving to select) . The grinding and crunching to move to 1000 sounds like the clutch isn’t releasing

I’ll check this out. The tractor was owned by the MOD before me and to my knowledge the PTO wasn’t used. The tractor has 500 hours on it.

I had some drums just pull off others needed a puller. Getting the bearings out was a swine of a job. Lots of heat and a big press.

Depending which trailer it is. The centre hub nut has to be removed to get the drum off. Release the adjuster on the back some are 19mm some 17mm. Depending how tight they are on a few wee skites with the hammer should help. If I can remember right that hub nut is done up to 350nm. And the nut...

Quick update on the push out hitch. I’ve taken a look today. It doesn’t move when the spool is activated but it does seam to have hydraulics at the back. Would 9.6CFM on a 25lt rank be enough to inflate some tractor tyres ?

Saw this at a decent price might not be enough to do tractor tyres.

I was thinking about something I can bring in to the field rather then something for the workshop. Seams CFM are all important on this job.

Evening all back for more advice. What size compressor would you use for inflating tractor tyres. I’ve seen the PTO ones but would a 4x4 in car compressor work. It maxes out at 80psi not sure about the CFM though. or would it be a 50lt, 100lt, 200lt compressor? thanks

Sorry i mean it will be nice if it has a push out hitch. I had to work on the hitch when it arrived as it was seized. As it had not been used before. The 3 point linkage hadn't been used either.
