Confessions of the Sheep/Beef Cattle/Pig Addicts

I'm not defending anything 😂 my calculations are worth what people have paid for them. I wouldn't have a clue what the answer is and neither do they I suspect. On our HLS it as you say no more than 50kg of N which keeps it nice a simple to work out.

Confessions of the Sheep/Beef Cattle/Pig Addicts

So adhb reckon there is 6kg of nitrogen per tonne of cattle farmyard manure. So you are allowed to put 72kg of nitrogen on per ha (6 x 12). If you are using just AN at 34.5% N then this has 345kg Nitrogen per tonne. If you divide 6 by this and then times by 12, I think you can only put...

    catchment sensitive concreting consents required

I just emailed our planning department with a plan showing where it was and that it was being done to improve water quality etc and they emailed back to say planning not required. Surprised what others say on here about it being a real issue as normally our planning department can be the most...

    f**k Up Fortnight

I find once they get some of the dams milk going through them they normally take it completely. When we get dairy calves you sometimes have to retrain them to suck of a cow and then they are away. Yours sounds promising though

Hopefully there isn't a next time but If there is and If you have an airline, put a nick in the skin and blow it up so the skin pulls away from the flesh. It then makes it far easier to whip it off.

diary of a comedy sheep farm

We try and foster on with the cows, usually fairly successfully especially if we have a skin from the dead one. Either buy one of a neighbouring dairy farm or steal one off a cow marked down to cull that year anyway. Had a bad start this year so ended up buying some, now have several possible...

    Portasol dehorner

We've got one, had the hornup ones but the batteries knackered on them. Got a Chinese copy off eBay that was free as the heat ring wouldn't screw in as holes were slightly off, they kept ignoring me so reported to eBay who just issued a full refund. Just ended up drilling the holes out slightly...

    Today at work

We used an old bar with a point on the end. When. We did half with a a spade and half with the bar the bar ones seemed to take a lot better. Found it a bit quicker going too. A nice job when the weather's ok and satisfying when you see them come in the spring

    Keeping the farm tidy.

Average 7 bales of silage plus 7 80x90 straw. If you tread it down everyday then it usually easily does it. Old collection started weighing it and we used to get extra charges. Council doesn't seem to worry 👍👍
