Year before last council rocked up here to fix a small road that goes through the farm. 2 teams of lads turned up spent first hour & half doing f**k all anyway……. Jus now toilet hire firm rocked up with a portable loo I asked the foreman wtf do u need one of them for can’t u jus have a pee on...
Don’t worry there’s currently an underspend in the ag budget & an election coming up - nothing would suprise me if a month before we go to the polls they suddenly announce an increase in HLS rates to rid some of it & get some more fergs back on side…. 😜😜 and let’s face it politicians will do...
Agreed…. And let’s face it I’d like to manage our farm a bit differently now than how we did 11yrs ago when we built it around the start of our old HLS, - things move on (as they should) but I kind of feel shackled for another 4 years……
This situation is very very frustrating….. We signed a 5 year extension on our old HLS in spring 23 (which we were rushed into doing…..!!!!!) & I was very dubious of signing but at the time everything was totally up in the air & we continued loosing BPS so I couldn’t really see any other option...
Listen boi I’m not going to have some petty row on here with u about wat ever - my stance on it is that we’ve had 6/7 years of talking and it’s really really not worked it’s obvious they have an agenda. I think maybe u need to accept this as well but I do admire guys like you who are still...
Having to now muck around doing assessments on hedges for £3/ 100 meters just about sums up this awful scheme….. Farmers really haven’t got time to be doing absolutely pointless stuff like this or is it going to be another thing where we’ll have to pay somebody £500/day to do it for us to get...
Well there we go Janet SFI is a none starter for us and we won’t be recouping our lost BPS
And thank you very much for making upland farming unviable good work..👍
If this schemes so geared to sustainable food production as they claim where’s the option for high output reseeded grassland- what’s not to like you get massive crops of brilliant quality silage/hay, can fatten lambs/cattle off it, dairy cows milk fantastic whilst using less fertiliser & reduces...
I step back and look at what’s happening to British agriculture and think what a shame it was that people like Neil Parish was given the push… He was an MP that actually understood what goes on in the real world of farming & wasn’t afraid to ask the tough questions they don’t want to answer…..
Yeh bloody tell her some truths, I think she’s got away lightly with what she’s doing & seems very efficient at brushing things aside…. Ask her how she feels about her policy thats going to seriously damage the viability of upland farms in England & all the other businesses that depend on them...
But we have tried (6/7 years)…… I think the time for nicey nicey farm visits where everyone lords it about working together for a sustainable future are over and it’s time to start shouting from the roof tops what a load of clap trap this has turned out to be & get something done about it before...
Well said boi….. You’d have thought with the energy crisis they’d have maybe realised that we should invest & look after our own instead of relying on imports but no haven’t learnt one bit by the looks…. Food is on a whole different level to anything else - You really don’t wanna f**k with your...
