    Countryfile tonight

I'm delighted to say that Home on the Farm (The Farming Forum) will be featured as part of a investigation piece looking at Rural Mental Health on BBC Countryfile this Sunday on BBC 1 at 5.40pm. The film crew spent 8hrs on our farm last week and I'm very excited to see the overall piece...

    Supporting an elderly relative

Good point. I have asked him but he says he doesnt know. I might ask him again to keep him thinking

    Supporting an elderly relative

He has no inclination to use the phone or any other technology as everyone has always done things for him. He only has sight in one eye so is unable to drive. He seems content with jigsaws, farming newspapers etc. Its the company he misses but then when I create opportunities he doesn't seen...

    Supporting an elderly relative

Thanks for all your advice and comments. I've got some jigsaws sorted, plenty of farming programmes lined up to watch and have accessed help to a befriending service through his GP. He comes up to the farm 3 times a day to help where possible, it is mainly in the evenings that he is a bit...

    Supporting an elderly relative

He feeds our finishing cattle twice daily. It is more in the evenings, especially now the nights are drawing in

    Supporting an elderly relative

It is more in the evenings, especially now the nights are drawing in. He does help out in the yard but its more pushing a fork around and emptying a few bags these days.

Spending quality time as a family

Thank you for your support. Things are better than they were but it could be much better too. I often find that having non farming friends puts added pressure on me as we never go away or do anything and they are always doing really fun things as a family. I think when the boys are older I will...

Spending quality time as a family

I have found it difficult at parent and children groups too. It can be a bit mind numbing if all your talk about is your children. And my two are a handful with them being so close in age so I have never really enjoyed the groups. There isnt much happening at the moment with Covid. I have taken...

Spending quality time as a family

I'm not from a farming background and can see the benefit of having a few hours together once in a while, the odd date night, a picnic with the children, the chance for me to have a few hours on my own would be nice too

Spending quality time as a family

My husband never had any family days out as a child. When I was a kid we went on bucket and spade holidays and trips to the zoo etc. Nothing fancy but time as a family. Thankfully we did get a day out for a walk and picnic yesterday which was just what was needed. I am not asking the earth am I...

Spending quality time as a family

Some really wise words there. I did have words at the weekend and actually we went out for the day yesterday. We had a walk and a picnic and it was lovely. Just what we needed. No stress, no fuss, just a few hours together

Spending quality time as a family

Thank you. We have taken the pickup over to meet the combine / tractor recently. Many of my friends locally juggle work off the farm too so it is difficult to meet up.
