Fascinating stuff, how do these compare to the archimedes screw type of thing ? Cousin of mine installed one of those a few years ago in Worcs , had a quite a job with the EA but he is one of those people who is relentless and I think they finally gave in to get rid of him, it's an impressive...
I'm finding the thread about the grain marketing fiasco educational but struggling with the acronyms - AHDB, All Have David Browns ?, AIC - All Is Chaos? etc. Could I prevail on the mods or the first users of acronyms to say what they stand for ? My grain growing days were during the Home Grown...
Before getting all excited about clutch, syncro etc I would drain and change oil and filter - I,ve no experience of the 1190 but imagine it is pretty similar to the 885, they are sensitive to wrong /dirty oil but good and reliable systems, if there is a syncro problem you would probably find...
It certainly seemed to be quite common, I wondered whether it was a socially acceptable way to go bust - one or two farmers I knew were sailing fairly close to the wind anyway - Rolls Royce life on a push bike income.
I inherited an operators manual for a B275 with the farm - no tractor unfortunately - it's yours if you want it, I'm in Vermont so postage shouldnt be too awful. Let me know , pm ?
Ouch ,that doesnt look good. I have a distant memory from 30 odd years ago of similar damage on Bramley, hot weather and we were using Saprol I think it was for scab control, Saprol was great for blackcurrants but there was discussion about it being a bit 'hot' for apples. We didnt get as much...
Three Subarus in our immediate family and a Toyota about to be chopped in for another, for what we need they are great - reasonably economical, will tow enough, and good ground clearance, the only weak point is their head gaskets . I wish they would make a pick up again but I guess everybody...
This is not peculiar to the UK, here in New England there is the same problem with the schools pushing unsuitable candidates to university - 50% of the male students drop out before graduating not sure how the girls do but it is better. The state trade college is under threat because of...
Just remembered , there is a US based IH forum called ,I think , the Red Power Magazine . It tends to focus more on the US built tractors but worth you putting your queries on that.
Is this the exhaust that has the silencer underneath across the tractor and then meanders along coming out between the rear wheel and fender/mudguard ? Neighbour has one of these and the only solution that made sense with that one was to put a vertical stack, you will have to find a U to come...
Any pheasant shoots near who put down feed ? I remember from my long ago interest in shooting struggling to find a few tons, logistically it would be tricky as you would have to store for a few months, maybe you have a trailer that would hold the whole crop , bagging hatch and sell in sacks? Lot...
I've used a belt sander for years, freehand - you just need to go slow . Small drills can be tricky but they are possible, 8mm upwards easy. Those bench grinders are too savage and can ruin the temper in my experience, perhaps I havent got a delicate touch.
Had the same problem when I started farming 40 plus years ago, grubbing huge hedges with generations of wire tangled in them. When the fires were cool we had a good pile of wire which the scrappy wouldnt touch, so I pushed it into the cellar under part of our range of buildings and concreted...
