Hello all,
I have around 100 breeding ewes that run along side the family flock of 500 beltex ewes. I work off farm relief milking and odd full days calf rearing way from home making a decent wage for myself. But as I’ve hit the age of 20 I no longer have the inthusiasm to lamb ewes
Meaning I...
Yes I have 70 ewes was thinking of building them up for another year or 2, plus working off farm till the first cow goes in the parlour and hopefully build up abit more cash so I don't have to borrow the whole lot for the cows.
So after I get a contract sorted for the milk. Where next for getting the money borrowed to buy the cows. Do I go and buy the cows under finance or go to the bank and see if I can get a loan. Might seem abit of a daft question but could with some genuine advice thankyou.
He was put off after him and my grandmother completely knackering themselves with milking twice a day 11 year ago, so we seemed to think OAD wouldnt knacker me like they did to themselves. But after working it out very basic, if i was to be milking through the herringbone and not the byre like...
Thankyou, yes Im always trying to get as much experience behind me as possible but no matter if I get abit stuck with something I ask my grandfather or someone with the experience behind them.
I Work 4 to 5 days off farm now at dairy farms also other sheep farms on top of working at home have done for quite a few year now, been ast to half manage an estate in the last few years but don't won't to commit myself to someone else's stock to that extent.
Also been having a talk we have thought about It and think a 60 cow flying herd of grazing type friesian cow spring calving but leave it a year or so and get everything planned out first. Does this sound a better idea
