You're not alone. My lambing has just been one big run of shite from start to finish. Had far too many dead ewes.
On the plus side I've calved 2 thirds of the cows in 3 weeks and only lost 2 calves. (Will likely all go tits up now I've said that)
They have most of the North East and central belt in Scotland sown up through Douglas Braes as well. It's a huge business when you look them up.
Owner farms just down the road from @Bill dog too
I'm the same here. We had them in offering ewe collection for a fiver less than I'm currently paying to the local lad. Know their plan is to put the local boy out of business and then hike the prices up. With the distances involved there's no way they could sustain services at the quoted price.
I have one old biddy who quite often phones me up to tell me there's a hole in a dyke or that cows are making a mess around a ring feeder etc and it's making the place look untidy...
Haven't exploded at her yet but only a matter of time 🤣
I've seen far too many blackies disappearing over the horizon. Anything I have to touch either gets brought inside or tied to a fence by her horns until they are deemed to be no longer a flight risk
For mine I just got the local smiddy to make up sections and gates etc to my measurements. Far better quality than most of what you'll buy from the likes of IAE. Worked out very similar on price but I got better quality and exactly what I wanted
There was a lad down the road from me put one up for lambing in and I don't know if it was wind or snow that knackered it but it only lasted a couple of years
Without having looked into it I'd say slurry regs will still apply. But for example a 4 foot tank would probably give you at least a years worth of storage.
You're only likely to house ewes for a couple of months too.
Seen a set of them once before. Id think I'd have issues with finding somewhere sheltered that I could get feed to without making a mess.
By the time I'd corrected those issues they would neither be cheap or mobile
