Hi Guys
As you are all aware there is a great deal of uncertainty around regarding the Feed In Tariff and other payment methods for renewable's.
Probably as a result of some of my posts we have had a large increase in the amount of landowners asking us to submit G59/3 Applications for...
Hi Guys
As per 'Wombats' post Ofgem have announced the FIT post October 1st
The rates can be found here and have basically been reduced 3.5% across the board - Whether this stands post FIT review I'm not sure but I think you are safe up to the End of the Year.
With FIT's uncertainty we've...
Hi Guys
In addition to the proposed pre accreditation removal for 50kWp plus Solar systems (ROO FIT) the government have brought forward the scrapping of ROC's from April 2017 to April 2016.
However this is not where it ends - The announcement also scraps the 'grandfathering' rule which is...
Hi Guys
We were surprised that there was no announcement in the budget regarding 'Renewable Subsidies' but it looks like their will be a shakedown of the system and almost certain reductions in tariffs across the board.
The latest report from the Office of Budget Responsibility now states that...
Hi Guys
I've not seen the piece but the BBC have run a story on their Breakfast programme stating that there will be a reduction of 80% of large scale Solar Projects.
However they do not seem to have explained the situation very well. They are of course referring to 5MW plus sites which now...
Hi Guys
I had a really interesting conversation with a senior guy from the ENA (Energy Networks Association) who basically look after the gas and electricity infrastructure and sit above the DNO's to shape and maintain policy.
As we all know one of the major issues is lack of capacity on the...
Hi Guys
Following recent posts regarding the change in the funding mechanism for 5MW + Solar Farms the first Contracts for Difference auction results have been announced by DECC.
The Solar bids were not very successful losing out to On Shore Wind which won the major chunk of the pot (750 MW)...

Hi Guys
As predicted the demand for 1 - 5MW Solar Farms has gone into overdrive.
I've had numerous calls regarding the initial Connection Requests where farmers have been succoured into signing an innocuous letter stating that the Developer will obtain a Connection Offer 'On Your Behalf'...
Hi Guys
Apologies for not posting for a while but looming tariff reduction has kept us pretty busy.
Following my original post 'What Does The Removal of ROC’s For Solar Farms (over 5MW) Mean For Farmers and Landowners?' (and subsequent posts) we have been contacted by many Farmers who are...
Hi Guys
We do not know by how much but the minimum will be 3.5%.
Potentially there is still time to get a Connection Offer (DNO dependant) but if there are any upgrade or reinforcement works required you are not going to get them completed for 1st Jan.
However if you are in the position...
Hi Guys
A quick heads up after announcement by DECC...
Feed in Tariffs were expected to fall by 3.5% in October as there had been two quarters without any degression as deployment targets had not been triggered.
This now means that there will no change until January 2015
Good News for...
Hi Guys
Since posting the blog 'What Does The Removal of ROC’s For Solar Farms(over 5MW) Mean For Farmers and Landowners?' which the Editor kindly reposted as a News Item back in mid June(Many Thanks BTW) I've had lots of contacts from Farmers who have been approached by Developers to rent land...

I was at a farm in Lincoln yesterday doing a site survey for a 150 kWp Ground Mount project.
Obviously the beauty with Ground Mount (assuming no shading) is that you can be due south facing at 30 degrees.
As per MCS rules the I ran the SAP calculations (Standard Assessment Procedure) and each...
Hi Guys
We've been working with a farmer off the forum from Lincoln and were due to install 50kWp (Solar PV) this week.
The system is going on a large old shed with no heating or cooling possible so no problem for an EPC Exemption. However it is connected to a grain drying shed where for 10...
Hi Guys
I've been having a terrible run of G59 /2 Applications with the last 6 all getting returned with deal breaking upgrade costs.
However I made 2 Applications for farms in Lincolnshire (50 kWp) at 11:00 am this morning with Western Power Distribution and received a phone call just after...
Hi Guys

Hi Guys
And Happy New Year to you all
In the run up to Xmas and into the New Year we have been working on several PV projects where we have had completely conflicting advice from EPC Exemption Departments (of the Big 6) as to the validity (or not) of our proposed exemptions. This in itself is...
