I too have thought about vetch but my only concern is whether they will survive an autumn herbicide. Seems to be a bit of an unknown but we know beans normally will survive.
Has anyone tried growing beans with wheat this time? It needs something that will survive autumn herbicides and beans seems the most obvious but plant population is critical so as not to compete with the wheat too much.
2021 516 PowerPlus here on 1500 hours. All good so far, only rubber engine mounts swapped under warranty due to getting squashy. Replaced with 8 series ones that are apparently harder. Previous 514 was an excellent tractor too. They need a lot of weight up front to overcome short wheelbase tho...
At 92 litres/min the sump pump is about as small as you can get. I guess for a washout the quantity would be 300 to 400 litres if I haven’t done any washout in the field.
Just installed a biobox type system using 4 recycled black plastic pallet boxes under the Severn Trent scheme. The bio mix is 50%straw 25%compost and 25%soil as recommended. My sump pump is rated at 92 litres/min. When the pump kicks in it pumps the liquid up to the top box faster than it soaks...
