    topper vs flail mower

Thanks Possibly the blades need sharpening? It cuts the grass but it's pretty rough. I suppose I'd like it cut a bit shorter and nester. What part needs sharpening? Just the ends that spin independently from the main spinning arm?

    Papa pump/ram pump

Yeah for sure. The old farmer before us added a tall (maybe 10ft) vertices pipe about halfway along our drive pipe and said it helps with the flow? Never really understood why. He's. Proper old school bodger type though so it might not be common practice. He'd recycle old clack calve washed and...

    Papa pump/ram pump

This shouldn't be an issue as we have plenty of space for a big tank up here. I was actually going to dig a couple big ponds that the overflow would go into

    Papa pump/ram pump

    Papa pump/ram pump

Our drive pipe totally rusty and got holes. Also couldn't really quite figure out how to adjust it correctly as there were so many worn out parts. Also leeches kept blocking the clack valve. Too unreliable!

    Papa pump/ram pump

When we moved to the farm there was an old ram pump that supplied water. Constantly having issues so we decided to go over to mains until we decided what to do. Would much rather be on our own supply so looking at the modern version called Papa pumps. But its £700(!) just to get them down to...

    Best barn roofing material....?

It's going to have a bit of everything. We got a few cows, so one bay will be for them. The rest will be machinery, workshop, lambing etc

    Best barn roofing material....?

Anyone got any opinions or advice? I'm gonna be building a 60x30ft barn and can't quite decide. Don't like box profile as the fixings go in the 'valley'. Seems like your putting a hole in the worst possible place, then relying on the rubber washer to keep water out. I like corrugated tin but...

    barn foundation advice needed!!

5x14 is probably oversized, but i bought the frame of a friend with a sawmill. he cut initially cut the timber for himself to build a barn, but then his situation changed and he sold it to me. A major plus on this point is that he picked out all his best logs to cut the timber out of, thinking...
