Hi All,
For those of you who want to get a microscope and start looking at the soil food web of your soil or compost, here's the minimum set up:
Microscope – you need a binocular shadowing microscope at the very minimum, but you may want a camera to take images or videos and send it to us or...
We have tested it as much as we could afford thus far and the results are in the presentation above. Having said that, no it is not a fully tested, mature product. I'm always very honest, but we don't (yet) have lots of cash to pay for all testing. We do offer though if you purchase it, use it...
Oh no, I kill plants :D I'm better at decomposition :D Good thing Adam in our lab is a wizard with plants. I prefer to make it into a product and give it into your capable hands.
Thank you for the encouragement.
If you've heard of the soil food web and dr. Ingham or dr. David Johnson, there is a way to look at the soil plant interaction that is heavily dependent on the beneficial soil microbes.
The current consensus is that modern farming damages the soil microbial...
Just as per title. I can't call myself a regular here, so wouldn't want to be seen weenie waving in front of you good people :)
Is there a section on here apart from straight ads where I can answer your questions about what we do?
Thanks
Daniel
In the report it said that the seed dressing was prepared and seeds drilled on the 14th June 2022, whilst the samples were taken on the 28th of September. The only sampling seems to be for control, Supersoil and our extract. I don't know of any extra baseline done there. Thank you.
We've bought some. It's twice as expensive as our goop in the same amount at our retail price... It looks like char. If someone pays for DNA analysis we can tell you what's in it :)
A new speculation of ours is that it's a bit of nitrogen fixing bacteria mixed into char as a carrier. :)
Best...
The only information they have ever shared about the origin of their product is in one of the ads I've seen. In it they claim to be mining forest floor for the product...
I'd love to talk to them, but they ignore our messages. I guess I'd need to pay a "front row" ticket to see the owner...
We've been developing our product for three years now. It's very expensive to run extensive controlled trials. Can I haz more moneyz for that plz? :D
I've not seen any record of their trials anywhere. I'd love to. So far a friendly farmer in Scotland pitched their product against extract from...
Actinos are a part of hot composting. They are a stage that almost all piles go through, and they help set the scene for other microbes. What you don't want is for it to go dry. It's difficult to restart and you need to rebuild the pile.
some people like to use the term actinomycetes, which can be confusing. We just call them actinobacteria or actinos. They don't produce mushrooms, and most mushroom producing fungi don't work with row crops.
If admins allow the plug in response to your question, here are all the details: https://soilecologylab.co.uk/soil-biology-testing/
It costs £55+vat per sample, and click on the "download sampling instructions" button below the table on that page.
thank you
Daniel
We get sent samples of JS bioreactors, worm compost, hot compost, and we keep a leader board for fun. Here's a recently updated table:
Also as a comparison, we have recently completed numbers of all of our piles, and here's our table:
Here's the one on microscopy. We're organising training locations in Scotland probably early June https://search.skillseeder.com/courses/f07so2nC9MJbpcD9aR6q/microscopy-for-busy-farmers
PSQ - Nice logo ;)
Here's a list https://www.skillseeder.com/climate-change-fund
It includes our course in microscopy if it ever interests you.
The deadline for applying is the end of this month.
