Topcon x25 GPS Heading is not working

Ok so we have figured out how to get it to work correctly with the Smart7. We did 3 things and then the Topcon x25 was happy with the Smart7 GPS heading: 1. We reduced the configuration of the Smart7 so it was simplified down as much as possible and just had SBAS set up and the basic NMEA...

Topcon x25 GPS Heading is not working

Yes it is a very weird problem, from what we can tell we are doing everything correctly but it is just not happy with the GPS. Such a frustrating problem!

Topcon x25 GPS Heading is not working

Yes we are using a Novatel Smart7 (I've also tried some NMEA/GPS simulators plugged into the x25 and are having the same issue). So it is a Novatel Smart7 plugged into the Topcon x25. Topcon x25 is set up to use a generic NMEA GPS in its settings, it has the correct COM port assigned, and the...

Topcon x25 GPS Heading is not working

I've got a Smart7 GPS plugged into my Topcon x25. The x25 can read the GPS fine, getting satellites, position, and speed into the x25 all correctly. But the heading is completely wrong, the heading is stuck at random headings, will occasionally move around but doesn't actually ever line up with...

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Thanks for explaining that, that definitely seems .... Inefficient

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Do they actually use it for renewable energy? Is it like maize silage? I've done stuff on dairy farms with maize silage clamps which are anaerobic

What types of farming around Cambridge?

I drove an agrifac self propelled sprayer once, it was a very nice machine

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Thanks for your answer mate, what does AD mean in this context?

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Hopefully so, agricultural control and machinery control is very fun from an engineering view

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Thanks for all the replies guys, hopefully I can get out and see the lettuce/beet/celery crops as I haven't seen what they are like yet. Not sure about the cattle farms... Do they use any machinery?

What types of farming around Cambridge?

Oh I'm a software/electronics engineer, I work for FarmscanAG we make controllers for machinery. Mostly arable/cereals/combinable (I'm not sure if they are the same or subsets of each other). Basically we do controllers for sprayers/seeders/spreaders.

What types of farming around Cambridge?

I'm an engineer working in Agri Tech but I don't have much real life farm experience. I will probably be moving to Cambridge next year, I was wondering what is the most common type of farming in that area?

Common farm problems to solve via tech/app

That sounds cool, I work in control and yeah a 30min response time is pretty wild for getting feedback to work

    What problems happen during harvesting?

I think I have the solution to all your problems... A giant umbrella. You can have it for 4 easy installments of 399

    Glysophate

How many litres of Glysophate would you guys use for a hectare per year? Sorry for the ignorant question, I'm an engineer, not a farmer but I was always curious how much the cost of chemicals is for you guys each year. Cheers, Dave

Correct Spraying Rate on a small sprayer

How often would you have to re-measure the flow from the nozzle tips? How often do you replace nozzle tips because of wear? I'm surprised they can wear down so much that they go out of spec just from liquid going through them, I guess the chemicals are harsh.

Correct Spraying Rate on a small sprayer

That's a good point, you can probably tell but I don't come from a farming background so I don't know much about the 'real world' of farming. One of my big worries is that these are cheap sprayers so farmers buying them might not want to spend more on a monitor/controller if they don't see the...

Correct Spraying Rate on a small sprayer

Yes the maths isn't difficult for sprayer calculations especially with the information provided by the sprayer/nozzle manufacturers, I guess an advantage of an app is it could automate the maths and reduce human error. But yeah I'm still not sure if my solution would be valuable to farmers with...

Correct Spraying Rate on a small sprayer

Interesting, that sounds almost like a ground drive spreader. Like as you speed up/slow down, the rate increases/decreases to compensate.
