AIC welcomes Defra cap on SFI actions in move to sustain food production

Worried if that if we stop growing crops they'll have nothing to control and jobs will have to be cut more like.

    Ewes aborting

Not disagreeing with that, but most cases will be bought in. Whereas toxo is pretty much everywhere and so easier to spread even into extensive flocks.

    Prattley v Rappa v Lamdquip

Out of prattley and rappa I'd go rappa. Out of all 3 I'd go landquip. Have one here that replaced and old prattley yard. Built like a brick shithouse. Tows very well. Easy to pay into road mode and hurdles help to stop ewes presurring them/jumping. Only gripes I've got are the gates could do...

    Ewes aborting

It's a while since we had it bad, but I'm sure the vet said most birds can carry it and that too vax was the safest bet as they can be exposed to it anywhere, even if like us we don't lamb in or feed out of bulk bins etc.

    Calving 2024

We have an attack cow. Buggers getting her head off this time as had enough of dealing with her even though she does through the best calf.

    Ewes aborting

We had a run with it and a bit of campylobacter a few years ago. Vet reconed birds can spread toxo as well. We vax all replacement shearlings now. Best thing you could do with the aborted ones is chuck them in with gimmers if you breed your own and there running dry.

    Turnout day ...

Hopefully get cows and calves out in 2 to 3 weeks. They graze some low lying black land. You'd have to have them on it all winter to bugger it as the swards like a thick sponge, very thick. Have hammered with sheep this winter though as had nowhere else to put them and to clear out old thatch...

    Too fat to farm?

Put to much emphasis on telling people it's OK to be fat IMO. Sounds very harsh, but unless you have a very specific reason for bring overweight then there no reason to be. Its the biggest cost to the NHS.

    Leaders of colour

If you go by most woke assessments Britain's full of racists. Yet for the first time England, Scotland and Wales are all led by people of colour.

Can Vertical Farming feed the population of the UK?

It will be a useful addition to conventional ag, particularly in horticulture for ensuring more year round supplies. But it requires to much energy to fully replace conventional ag. Unless nuclear fusion becomes a thing.
