I'am afraid I am not very articulate enough to write to my MP explaining the carbon/methane cycle and how they are wrong blaming cows , could someone please write a letter that we could send on mass to our respective MP's putting down the facts plus some links to explain our thoughts as primary...
Son is starting a new venture buying reared calves and finishing them. We know feed costs etc but he would rent sheds as ours are full and closed herd. Need to know how much housing rent costs per week/head please . Water provided son does work , son provides the straw and all feed, thanks.
maybe more common than I thought I've stripped out a few cows in my time but never seen one as cherry red as this, but I suppose one or two of those calves that are up and away, I will never know.
I have just had 2 calve tonight in the same pen and had to rescue one plus mum as calf was determined to suckle from wrong mum and she, the other cow, was not having it at all.:banghead:
Calf tonight is looking full again watched him drink for a good 5 minutes and cleaned her out on one side.
Had her in crush this morning, already chocolaty so hopefully going the right way. Will be happy when I see calf having a little buck and a skip :) .
Cow calved this afternoon camera shows calf up and sucking and calf full (y) checking cow and calf tonight put her in crush and nothing but cherry red blood coming from all 4 teats( not chocolaty colour) cow not even sore ,full draws of blood could draw easily a litre of blood but did not give...

Our trusty Kramer 850 today decided to spit its hydraulic pump sadly . We've had it since new 10.000hours serviced 500 hours clockwork just had quote for new pump 6k plus 3k labour to fit new. Anyone had similar and done it do not want to say cheaper but not sure how to take this forward as the...
At calving we start feeding cows in the evening, 6 pm they then cud through the night and predominantly calve early morning not all but a big majority.
I ask my calves at weaning time to keep their voices down so the villagers can get their beauty sleep, some how they do not seem to listen, at least I ask them :) .
Think I am going to start a thread 'best cure for' as our collective knowledge together with actual positive results should be a go to thread for all livestock producers and their stock. Trouble is as you get on in years your memory starts to wane and a go to thread would be useful,
My vet gave me Depocillin which had absolutly no affect at all and we were on to her like a shot , the ewe I mean, not the vet as soon as her lug dropped, but no joy.
