Another option would be replace the hydraulic ram with a linear actuator and have a current limiter in the circuit prevent the actuator burning itself out.

eventually drop is fine by me, if they stay up for 10mins i will be satisfied. With the way i have it rigged up I have constant pump engagged and I can pulse spool valve 1 and the lift will lift up. Spool Valve 2 opens and closes fert spreader.

cant tell you how the 168 performs with its new piston rings in the lift cylinder, its been too wet to get into a field with the fert spreader.
sometimes the spool lever on our JD6420 gets a bit sticky, it goes into all 3 positions no issue, however it can take a good shake sometimes to bring it back to neutral.
after a bit of research i found this thread and i guess i need a bit of lubrication on those detent balls in the spool...
As per title is there any way to do this easily and without making a mess.
Will be spreading a good bit of urea this year as opposed to blends, urea has more nitrogen in it so I think this situation will arise.
