The heaviest / most difficult soils to farm in the Uk?

If anyone knows the area, I used to manage the estate at Duddo a few miles south of the Scottish border. Now some of that is some gear! Second gang of discs would block, press-forget it! 2003 dry year, two inches down it was identical to the brown plasticine in the kiddies multi-colour packs, if...

    Cultan ?

The late great Emsted sent me some German work on it from the 70's/80's looking at the script. Was on here in messages-or a former version!! Not on it now unfortunately. If a moderator chooses to look and can retrieve it, I would be more than happy to share.. Logistics are the killer and very...

Can 'farm labour' erect a used shed or kit building-legally?

Ag contractor-not building steelwork contractor. Tickets for everything these days-showing legal capability(not taking into account skill of that capability necessarily).

Can 'farm labour' erect a used shed or kit building-legally?

Perfectly capable-I have done it years ago for a contractor who took beam and plated up to make the shed we erected. But are we legal in actually doing so in 2022?

    Leica Mojo

Our Challenger 845 is 2012, given everything /uncertainty of future direction etc etc-not looking to change-just its tracks! Guidance is as above-leica mojo. They obviously withdrew from Ag market, and give no further support. When it works-which is nearly always, its great. Is there any reason...

Landy drain jetter-how do you rate it?

I have read all previous threads on this-just wondered if there were many more up-to-date comments. Have used normal low vol/high flow reel jetters, and industrial lower flow/high pressure on farms. Both do the job. Our problem is we are all herringbone systems, so we can only do the...

    Foliar nitrogen feeds

Some work I saw was creating full cover with early AN/Urea dose, then replacing subsequent solid applications with the 5:1 substitution thereafter. So for example' Total dose 220kgN; start 100kg as solid, then 40, 40, 40 solid, or 40, 40, 8KgN as form urea(equiv to 40 normal), and the other...

    Foliar nitrogen feeds

30 years ago-when I worked for them- Velcourt would spoonfeed foliar urea into the plant at 5kgN per ha during dry times, late sown crops with poor rooting etc. This formaldehyde urea, as I can see & having looked into it a few years ago, is a completely different animal. Do not be confused by...

Per tonne fresh when I was using. Standard broiler litter Nmax application was 8t/ha 240kg/ha @ 30kg/T. When we applied layers muck, was about 11-12t/ha dependent upon analysis. The best is broiler-but unless used on farm, often ends up burnt or AD plants for power gen.

    Foliar nitrogen feeds

Like a lot of ag tech, comes from the states. Used in horticulture/greenskeeping for years. Some interesting trials N substitution work later in the growing season-as needs full crop coverage to make sure it hits photosynthetic material to maximise what is not a lot of stuff being applied...

That is obviously a per Tonne analysis. We used to plough down in feb ahead of beet ex Pedersens from Noble Foods . Different analysis, so worth getting your own test. Broiler usually 30kg./T, layer nearer 20kg/T

    Fertiliser Price Tracker

Have been 'told' that some big players; buying groups & farming companies may have been in the bunfight as things rocketed with little or no cover. Is this actually the case? By 'told' that is exactly what I mean-I have not been categorically informed of this as fact. Woldmarsh were...
