we had the same problem with our 85 not sure if you can still get them but we swapped the normal grass skimers for manure skimmers they were a lot bigger and made it a different machine , it became more like a dowdswell with trash boards

agree its a italian made SICMA we had two ,believe they were 10 foot not 3 metre using lely rotera parts some were badged as ransomes and parmiter for a time, and we ran on lely longer potato tines

maybe the one we had trouble with was 09 reg 600 we also had a 08 600 that only did it rarely the fitter believed it was down to more wear in the tracks on the 09 as it did more road hrs and the blocks in middle of tracks were worn more

yes a regular problem had smoke coming of ours mainly the older original black tracks ask your dealers parts dept ,claas do a three sided cover/boot to fit over uj joint but fit them open side down as the straw drops down by going round the tracks our dealer fitted ours wrong way up thinking...

agree with with comment i have been on many makes and find the class arion / axion about the smoothest and balanced to drive some earlier ones not to bad priced if they have had head gasket done ( ps im the same age)

it may be worn bushes and bearings on drive yolk is it more noisey than usual , causes material not to overlap in middle and not through as far / or worn or wrong spout end for type of material fitted
