Thinking about this as well. Against a 70k diet feeder, 80k telehandler, 70k tractor and wages. Probably stacks up depending on layout even without the grant.
Dairy farm here, doing some small and big things.
Staff not an issue short or medium tern. Very worried long term currently all local staff, foresee going abroad for them in the future. Maybe Georgia, Kazakstan, Lithuania, Estonia etc
1) Building a rotary to milk quickly and easily so people...
What silage clamps have people built recently. Don't want to do posts and panels as I have a couple and can't stand putting the side sheets up on them.
Wonder if I could just do a concrete pad and use L shape panels for the walls maybe 6ft or 8ft high?
Agreed. A company up the road make them. Ill have to get one made a bit narrower and lighter than the standard. Don't think our tractors will be man enough for a full size one.
I've got 70 years worth of tractor weights to hang off a frame. I think that if there isn't enough weight in the wheels it will just stall instead of turning?
Could I cut the draw bar off a 3m Cambridge roller, weld on a 3 point linkage, add some weights and use it as compactor.
Would the rings still turn okay on the axle or would they stall?
Very few people block calf properly its all about calving between the 4th of January and the 4th of December. Last few weeks beef only so you have no calves on milk over Christmas.
Be very careful I know a guy who tried to get his money back on his robots and another guy who tried suing for his rotary. Both lost and burnt through a lot of money in the process. One guy definitely in the right but he still lost.
