Hello
Just wondering what the going rate is for standing grass. Specifically, I'm talking about non-arable fields you want to pass on to a contractor for baling.
How much do you receive per acre? Or do you get paid per bale they produce?
Hi everyone
New to farming and we are looking to relocate our muck heap (just horse muck).
What rules/factors do we need to consider when finding a new place for the muck heap? We know to avoid it being near a water supply or potential run-off into a water supply. Is there anything else we...
Does anyone here have experience of spreading sludge (treated/untreated) on their land? If so, is there anything I need to be aware of?
We're looking into this, primarily to help the grass grow, rather than using fertiliser.
Interesting to read the replies. My biggest concern would be machinery breaking down during the limited time window to get the harvest in. I'm never going to be a mechanic so would be reliant on other people. I accept there are bigger things that can go wrong, that could put people in danger!
Arable is not something I'm familiar with so hoping to learn off people from here.
Youtube videos make it look very seemless - combine cuts, straight into a trailer and then dumped into a grain store. But what can go wrong during harvest? What are the common difficulties you come across, other...
We're going to get certificates and buy "the good stuff" to put inside rat boxes. It's a persistent problem, mostly near the stables. Air rifle won't cut this I'm afraid.
We have a rodent problem in our livery, eating feed and chewing through various things. What is the best way to resolve this?
Did originally looks at buying this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08WSWWK1H/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza?th=1 but was told by a pest controller that it will not be...
Just wondering what insurer everyone is using for their farm?
Specifically things like:
buildings & contents cover for outbuildings
public liability
tractor insurance
I'm looking at ours and thinking it's a bit steep but I'm concerned about going to a more mainstream insurer who does not...
We're looking to rent out 16 acres of ring-fenced pasture with good access to water. Ideally looking for a sheep farmer.
This is the first time we will have done this in a long time, so how much would you charge/expect to pay for something like this? Based in the North West, so we can't charge...
Hello
We have 30 acres of standing grass available for a haymaking/sileage because our current contractor is retiring. Land is located in the OL postcode area (Rochdale/Oldham). Ideally looking for someone who is ready to go this summer for cutting & baling. Usually get 200+ large round bales...
