    Rainwater Harvesting Tanks

I see some others have installed rainwater harvesting tanks recently so what are peoples thoughts? Planning to install rainwater harvesting tanks for sprayer filling in our yard, installing a couple of 20,000 l tanks, do they need a concrete base or will a hardcore/gravel base be sufficient...

    Farm plan accounts software

The question is how long is a piece of string! And how good will the improvement be? I have the opportunity to start a new system now, from my point of view Xero seems best but to coordinate with the accountant farmplan if improved could be better. . . .

    Farm plan accounts software

Hi, I know this has been covered before but is there anyone on here still using farmplan accounts software? Is it that bad? Or is it like gatekeeper a bit 'clunky'? Problem I have is taking over a simple cash accounts system run purely on basic cashbook style spreadsheets, I have trialed Xero...

Taarup 307 with very wobbly drive top hat

Our 307 had a major uj failure on that shaft a few years ago, uj gave up, and sent the shaft straight out the front of mower and nearly smashed the steps off the tractor! In the process destroying the top hat and guards. We didn't find anyone with parts, ended up using a breakers yard for...

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

Thanks, the mower used actually got 4 rows down the middle of the rotors so couldn't fault that this time, will be using a bigger mower in the future so only 3 rows which may cause problems . . PTO speed ended up at 300rpm and 8kph forward speed but at those speeds we think it's doing more...

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

Thanks, this crossed our minds, rows aren't spread full width but only just get tractor wheels between them. To check this we spread it out evenly with our Lely then put the Kuhn through it again and it still sent it into rows. . .

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

Thanks, we normally ted in 540 economy, but yesterday to get the slower pto speed we went into normal 540 to get the power. . . Interesting to hear about a slower gearbox, don't think we want to send the rotors any slower tho as it will not pull the crop apart as well . . .

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

Well that's 5 times more info than in the manual! But most of it we had worked out, but we will check out the angle as we looked at it and wanted to increase it.

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

No, fixed tines so only one position, it could do with letting go of the crop sooner to throw the hay backwards rather than back into a row. We could alter angle on our Lely which worked well.

    Tedder trouble! (Kuhn 8 rota)

Any tips on getting a Kuhn 8 rotor tedder to spread grass evenly? The whole instruction book gives two lines of setting advice which isn't much use! All it wants to do is put the crop back into rows between the rotas! We have tried steeper/shallower angle, faster/slower PTO, faster/slower...
