I’ve a really awkward shape field it’s only 3 ha and currently in a two year grass ley I’m thinking of spraying it off and resowing a new ley into it.
Is there any problems doing this??
Hi
I’ve a really awkward shaped field only 3 ha with lots of trees and poles currently I’ve got it in a two year ley. It’s due to come out this year but with it been such an awkward field I’m thinking of spraying it off and resowinging it with a new grass ley.
Any problem doing this??
Obviously I’d like to get them in at the end of July after some winter barley but the most suited field is in with spring barley which might not come off till third week of august, is that too late for a good crop of stubble turnips and would fodder rape do better then?
I think your kidding your self if you think it will pay at 1 t an acre with current fert prices you’d better get your calculator back out it’s not worth £800 now
Yes you can do that with one field but you can’t leave all your spring ground till mid April it stops raining here by then and there’s no moister left need to be cracking on early March.
Over winter plough, quick run over with a triple k the straight over with combi drill
You’ll alwAys struggle to establish spring barley with a direct drill the soil is to cold in the spring and unless you move it it won’t dry out . I’ve gone back to rotational ploughing where spring barley is
