Ewes and lambs have tested very low in iodine (as expected) and trying to work out the best way to supplement them.
Tups go out in 5 weeks.
All sheep have just received a Flexidine injection.
Given the blood test results were so low (35 ug/l test result, should be over 150 ug/l) I'm thinking...
Looking for some opinions on the value of a Kuhn Axis 30.1D. Good to very good condition.

It is all hydraulically operated on the spool valves with no electronics.
Also curious as to the cost of a new one if anyone...
Looking for a 3m power harrow with packer roller. Ideally Kuhn, Maschio or KRM but all makes considered.
Sensible budget for a 15+ year old machine or thereabouts, but flexible for the right machine. Located in the South East but willing to travel for a good machine.
I've always had manuals in the past but tried an automatic Hilux and was very impressed. Very smooth and nice to drive on the road.
Is anyone running a 2.8 litre auto Hilux? How are they for towing? I don't do loads of towing, but still need something that is capable.
After some opinions on shearing some Aberfield x Welsh ewe lambs I've recently purchased. It's getting a bit late, but I would like them shorn as I'm planning on tupping them. I'm in the south east of England.
Option 1 - shear with normal comb
Option 2 - shear with winter comb
Option 3 - shear...
Can a Vicon Varispreader be used for spreading slug pellets? If so, do they do a good job or would it be better getting a contractor in? I've only got about 15 acres to do.
I'm looking for about 25 Aberfield x Lleyn ewe lambs. Aiming to tup them this November if they reach tupping weight. Please PM or leave a message. I'm prepared to travel for the right ones!
Many thanks
Would changing the IRG for PRG be sensible? Planted now, I find IRG gives good growth/quality until about June, then it seems to go stemmy. I was thinking PRG would give better grazing for 12 + months?
@Great In Grass Please could you PM me a price and any information on the mix. The situation...
Does anybody have any views/experience on share farming or contract farming with livestock - beef & sheep?
My long term aim is to secure a tenancy. I have applied for farms in the past and been shortlisted but not yet successful. I currently run 200 ewes, am well qualified with contract...
Does anyone find a moisture meter a useful tool?
There is a good deal on the Superpro Combi Moisture Analyzer. Are these any good?

Is it too early to wean lambs born from mid March to early April? Ewes look to still be milking. Would guess lambs are all above 35Kg.
They are on creep feed, was planning to keep the creeps out for a week or two after weaning and then reduce to nothing as the lambs are for breeding (pure...
Has anyone got any tips to deter foxes from taking lambs? Lost a couple of 3 day old lambs and I'm fairly certain its a fox.
@JohnGalway Do you use stockholm tar on the lambs necks? Does it effect the ewe/lamb bond?
A friend of mine has a hobby flock due to start lambing on 1st April. He has not given them their booster vaccination yet. Is there any problem giving it to them now at 2-3 weeks pre lambing rather than the recomended 4-6 weeks?
@bovine
Does anyone on here grow arable crops organically? I'm not organic myself but would like to know a little bit more about it.
Would a rotation of 3 years grass/clover ley followed by winter wheat then spring barley be typical? If the farm can conventionally grow 3.5t/acre of wheat on medium easy...
I am looking to establish a mixture of Italian ryegrass and forage rape next week for lamb grazing after they have been weaned in August.
The field is heavy clay soil, is currently in pasture and has been sprayed off last week with roundup.
The two options I have are as follows;
1. Use my...
Bought some Tee joins off pipestock and they all leak out of the bottom of the T bit, if you see what I mean. I've made sure the pipe is in far enough and screwed them up tight. Used some off mole valley and they are fine.
Anyone else had any problems?
