I fully get your point livestock1 maybe not ideal, but maybe if more of us stood up for ourselves and others in the industry once in a while, and made these "none jobs" realise us lads, deserve a bit more gratitude and that they only have a job criticising and pointing the finger because we put...
It's strange how I have grown to feel I knew your Father and farm from following his annual antics on TFF. A courageous, tough guy with a huge heart. Society should take a leaf from his book hard working and determined. Life is fu##ing sh!t sometimes chin up lass he thought the world of ya!!
I had 12 ewes 11 years ago even after footvaxing they were consistently lame. I had them on a bare piece of almost hill ground that seemed to help but as soon as they even sniffed green grass the feet heated up again. Oh and had to clip rugs off their backs also.
Excess/ unwanted ewe hoggs from the scottish upland sheep support scheme can be killed after 31st March that may give a short term flush of lambs for slaughter for a week or two.
I'd go for an old 4wheel drive tractor with diff lock nothing hefty 60hp zetor pick one up £3-4k. Trucks are fine but when they go down they're down. If you're hell bent on a truck then i'd look for a 2.8 swb pajero they have 4 wheel lock on them and not too heavy.

How do any of your neighbours sheep perform in relation to you're own? Do they run the same breed or similar? Sometimes the land will dictate the growth rates and reading to much farmers weekly can lead to high expectations.
Look grand lambs. I have almost identical sample results so interested in how you're sheep respond to the mineral drench. Are you bothered with mucky backsides but the worm counts being clear?
Sprayed my swedes twice for flea beetle at the end of may haven't seen damage to the rape that has appeared so far. Just a very poor emergence over the grass area. It's dissapointing when you pay a contractor and put you're trust in his expertise and machinery.
Lots of rain?. Sprayed off 30th may sown 31st into very dry ground rain started on 4th june and been showery since i'm hopefully being impatient got the local agronomist coming inpast with some kale seed tomorrow for a ploughed field so will see what he thinks.
Is Mingary the seed mix for upland north facing slopes? If it is i have a field, must be 7 year old now and is going strong. It comes early in the spring considering its at 1000ft on a north facing slope and is lying up against the forest. Would recomend for that situation.
