Got some lambs with Lice (confirmed). Going to Crovect them at tick rate as they're all in full fleece.
Question is, do I need to part the wool to get at their skin or is along the wool sufficient?
Does anyone know if the knob for changing the hydraulics from single to double acting and vice versa are replaceable? I need the third as a single acting. I'm not very good with hydraulic so forgive if I'm missing something
Need some advice from the collective mind.
I would like to make a few small rust repairs to the cab and doors of my 575. Nothing major just a few small holes .
Now the actual repairs are not a problem, but I will need to paint the repairs obviously. This is where I'm unsure as I'd...
Having a bit of an issue with getting hold of some general fill for making a hard standing sub base. Anyone else struggling for a supply?
Found some at £12 +vat per tonne but it's too expensive for what it is. What are others paying currently?
Just a quick one, has anyone got any experience of the Oerlikon Fincord M rods? Using Bohlers atm but local shop got some Fincords in. They tell me they are brilliant, but they cost more.
Enlighten me (y)
As I am sure is the case for many on here, grass is scarce.
I am thinking about feeding my (weaned) lambs ad-lib to try and get them gone a bit sooner to try and save grass for the ewes over winter.
I don't own any hogg feeders or creep feeders so I was wondering if buying a couple of double...
As some of you may have been aware I was in the market for an old, cheap tractor. Well I have now got one, a fairly tidy but very mechanically sound MF 575.
I know the 500 series get some stick but it came in way under my 5k budget.
8 speed box, double door cab and just shy of 6k hours...
I could do with buying a tractor and I need some advice as I am not really a big machinery person.
Couple of things;
It will probably do no more than 150 hours per year
Doesn't matter if 2WD or 4WD
Age doesn't matter (within reason)
It will have no road work to do
Something easy to fix...
Just a quick one. I've always single sire mated here but this year I'm thinking about running more than one in a larger mob.
Would 2 rams in with 120 ewes be ok or would they fight? 3 be better?
Maybe a daft question but never done it before.
I've the chance to buy some smart (I think) Jacob shearlings for a very fair price. Only 7 of them. Worth a punt? If so what would you put them to? Only have Lleyns and Charollais tups. Maybe a Charmoise soon eh @Keepers !
I know very little about the breed other than my Grandad used to have some.
Looking for some advice.
I have a lamb that's scouring a foul smelling yellow/brown/mustard colour scour. I'm going to drop off a sample this afternoon but I'm not really sure the best way to do it. Would collecting the sample as I usually would in a glove be ok? Just worried I won't get...
Would anybody be able to point me in the right direction about getting a trained or part trained sheepdog?
I've only had experience with buying pups. But I do not have the time to train one from pup age.
Any advice of any sort would be most welcome. Also any contacts of breeders/trainers...
The one time in the past 4 weeks it decides to rain is just as I finish cliking the lambs
Do you think they'll be ok? Or am I going to have to do them again
As above really, I'm needing another trailer. Nothing fancy really as long as it is road legal and brakes work. 2 or 3 axles.
Sheep decks would be nice but not really essential.

I know this has probably been covered before but just wondering if anyone has any tips for an animal health inspection. Or any inspection for that matter.
I've never had one before and can't help but feel nervous :cry:(n)
Just wondering how tight everyone runs their singles over the winter and running up to lambing?
I've had my singles stocked at 4 to the acre nearly all winter, on old rough PP, yet they're still too bloody big.
Having a slightly unusual start to lambing this year. Had 3 (out of 15) lambs born with their heads hanging down.
The first was one of three so just assumed it was a bit cramped inside the ewes. The second 2 however are out of singles.
The lambs show no signs of illness or discomfort. Two have...
I have a stretch of river Severn to fence this year that is prone to flooding. I've decided to not use stock netting and 2 strands of barbed as I usually would.
I was planning on using 7 strands of HT line wire instead. Couple of questions.
1, will it hold ewes and lambs in?
2, if so at what...
