Wondering if anyone has had this problem before. Pins won’t unlock. Bought a new solenoid unit that goes on the front near to the headstock. Worked one time then stopped. Suggested maybe a nick In the cable but we’ve run a lamp form the same power supply and it’s working in time with the button...
We’ve got a Besson in plough needing some bits. Had a price from spaldings but almost worth shifting it on and getting another for what it’s going to cost for a bit of metal. Any others worth a try?
Currently using halacour or some variation of it. It’s a pig of a disease and I hate it. Calf shed gets cleaned as well as possible but no concrete. Is there any other solution or just keep on at it with halacour?
We need to add a small channel to take some watery slurry from the collecting yard. I’d like to not have to dig lots of material out to have to use the preformed channels.
have other used twin wall cut in half? how do we get the slats to sit ontop?
Curious to see where others have fixed feed for autumn 24-spring 25.
we’ve not covered anything yet and suspect wheat can’t get any lower. Don’t want to have my pants pulled down
Just curious as to how much others are paying. As always it’s cheap if you need it but do think we’ve ended up adding things for the sake of adding and with a few spanner’s in the works currently we’re looking to review all spending.
so currently circa £1450 a month for:
2 tractors

We’re having some issues currently with cow performance being pretty poor and not consistent. Had a meeting with nutritionist and we’ve played around with some things and hopefully things will improve.
Discussed with vets who also have a nutritionist and run the same program as far as I’m aware...
Curious as to how other buyers come to the conclusion of what your paid per month. I believe with leprino there are 4 payment samples. The issue I see here is for example if we’re down a litre a cow one day, we get paid for less litres but often our quality has risen off the back of this so...
Anyone have any knowledge on how to fix the above? Our local guys have shut up shop and keen to not pay someone to come out to it from further away with a hefty bill.
it needs a service but the hot wash has also stopped working after doing some weird things and not turning off one day
Our patchwork has gone buggered. Dealer says about £1200 for a new one. Can one be made or bought for less? Fertiliser spreading and a little drilling will be its jobs.
As above our current team will finish at the end of this season. It’s a mixed bunch of retained calves and they’ve done us well.
We bought in 2 Hereford’s last year which have been decent but not many calves born to them.
historically we’ve carried on serving even with bulls in as semen is...
Just looking for some advice. It’s biblically wet here now and there is water pissing out from everywhere.
on one of our rented blocks of land there is a house below one of the access lanes. I’ve no clue what rights they have other than they don’t own the access lane.
there is a significant...
I know @Bald Rick has it at his but is there any negatives to only galving the legs.
I got a little excited when i ordered the last shed and if my maths are correct it’s going to cost nearly £500 each rafter. Preference is to galv it but must admit I’m thinking twice now.
Any of the above to avoid? Seem to be about £3-£400 for most of them which I think offers a sensible return just not if they are crap. Any idea on lead times for them too?
Can anyone offer any advice please on the above. Having trouble with our current system which I suspect needs updating. Quoted installed price from one local firm seems a little heavy handed compared to the cost of the systems on line. Could anyone advise? Thanks
How are others lighting their sheds?
Just had a quote through for proper 200lux lights. Dad disagrees with it being worth it as this isn’t our bottle neck. I tend to agree but want decent level of lighting.
Ignoring milk production increases has anyone seem a fertility improvement from better...
Looking to buy in some low quality meadow grass for dry cow feeding. Price per acre was too rich for my blood so I suggested a price per bale which he agreed to in principle. What would others offer? I think I’ve done £8-£10 in the past.
Wondering on the thoughts of the collective here. I basically want a system that displays a cows number to me digitally when she is in the parlour. We have brands but on red cows they can be a nightmare and I’m fed up of jumping up to read tags for milk recording or mob scoring. I’m then finding...
