    Drawbar suspension

This is a sysyem of suspended drawbar hitches that are commonly used in Australia on tractors used for laser grading. The drawbar is attached at the front under the tractor and has 2 hydraulic cylinders at the rear that are used to allow the drawbar to float when working in rough conditions...

Farmer Roy's Random Thoughts - I never said it was easy.

Yeah I am ok where I live in Echuca. We have 3 rivers in Echuca and all have been in major flood. The Murray River is still at major flood level and is likely to be at this level for weeks. All the irrigation reservoirs on the rivers in northern Victoria and southern New South Wales are full...

Farmer Roy's Random Thoughts - I never said it was easy.

As I understand there is no clear pattern following 3 La Nina's. Could be drought, could be "average", could be ....

Farmer Roy's Random Thoughts - I never said it was easy.

Australia is experiencing 3rd year of La Nina. This is where the oceans to the north of Australia are warmer than "normal" because of ocean currents and this results in more rain particularly in north and eastern Australia. Much of the rain we are getting originates from Solomon Islands which...

    Today at work

Sowing some winter wheat for a neice and her husband. This is in northern Victoria, Australia and the 40 acres I sowed is part of some land they have recently purchased. This land can be irrigated but this crop will not be. Canola was grown here by the previous owner. The wheat will be...

    Today at work

I always understood that IH ACCO trucks were designed and made in Australia only. Wikkipedia says; ACCO[edit] The Australian designed and built International Australian A-line Cab Over (AACO) was first produced in the late 1960s and later in 1972 the Australian C-line Cab Over (ACCO) . The...

    Levelling a seedbed

This is the typical equipment used to level land for flood irrigation in Victoria, Australia. 400hp Case is pulling a very heavy disc to work te land and chop up any remaining grass. Disc can be filled with water to provide additional ballast and would probably need a crawler to pull it...

    Loaded up and trucking!!

Not really sure, but I assumed that the moon buggies were designed and used for moving modules of cotton (small stacks of cotton) the method of handling cotton before the baling system was developed. The same machine is now being used for the bales.

    Land leveling

Not answering your question but here are some pics of irrigation levelling equipment used in Victoria Australia mostly by contractors. Laser controlled scoop to shift and level land. Then the final finish is done with a smudger board. They are often used to "touch up" irrigation bays...

    IH 1468

Unfortunately I don't have any video but the V8 certainly had a bark when the throttle was opened. I was on the property looking at the collection, taking photos and prepared a fleet article for Classic Tractor. I had had a few articles published and was busy interviewing and taking photos so...

    IH 1468

Doesn' t answer your question, but here are some photos of a 1486 in Victoria, Australia. This tractor is part of an IH collection on a farm. it has clocked up in excess of 10,000 hours and only used on augers at harvest. The owner describes the V8 tractor as a "show offs" tractor.

    Loaded up and trucking!!

Photos of road trains delivering cattle to the wharf at Broome, West Australia today. Cattle were being loaded onto a ship for live export. There were three road trains on the wharf waiting and often a fourth empty coming off the wharf. The cattle looked to be young, perhaps yearlings and...

    Loaded up and trucking!!

A couple more grain trucks from Australia. The winter crop harvest is underway at present, we are just about to enter summer here. This is an Atkinson 3800 with tipping trailer. Atkinson trucks were sold through International Harvester dealers in the 1970 and 80s. This one has a Cummins...

    Loaded up and trucking!!

This is not my property, I wish!! They store grain in silos, sheds and ground bunkers. All the grain is stored on the property at harvest and then sold throughout the year with their roadtrains delivering to their customers.

    Loaded up and trucking!!

A couple more Australian trucks. The roadtrain is one of 8 owned by the Zell family in NW NSW. In 2009 they cropped 50,000 acres of mostly wheat. The roadtrains were used to cart grain from the field to the storage sheds in the background, some silos and ground bunkers. They also cart grain to...

    Loaded up and trucking!!

A couple more photos of Australian roadtrains. These 2 were working in the Kimberly area a couple of years ago. The tipper was carting iron ore (I think) into the port at Wyndham and the stock truck was carting cattle into Kunnanurra. It seems that stock numbers are referred to as "so many...

    Rare chamberlain?

More than rare, it is a one off tractor. As can be seen from my photos, there has been a fair bit of change from the original Super 70 tractors. The original tractors were not fitted with 3 point linkage. After market systems were available in Australia. This tractor was fantastic on the...

    Sugar cane harvest Aust

Both Massey Ferguson and International Harvester developed cane harvesters in the 1960s and MF manufactured harvesters until the 1980s. A local firm Toft continued to build harvesters and haul out machines. They were bought out by Case-IH and are now made in Brazil I think. Here are a few more...

    Sugar cane harvest Aust

These are some photos I took of some cane being harvested near Mossman, Queensland. This about the northernmost cane grown on the east coast of Australia. It is tropical so the cane is grown on rain only, no irrigation needed. In fact it has been a wet start to the harvest and delays have...
