Evening all
We are planning to switch from loose housing / FYM to cubicles & slurry.
Slurry will be separated and the store will be covered, Rainwater in the store will be minimal. Milk yield is 9000-1000 l/cow
What is a likely analysis of the slurry and what would be a typical application...
We fitted solar panels with feed in tariff in 2011.
Since then we have always bought our electricity from British Gas and have received FiT from them.
Our BG contract expires in a few months and Scottish Power are much cheaper than BG on the new quotes.
Will BG continue to pay us the FiT if...
We would like to switch to robot milking.
It would be Lely & we’re not interested in any other brand.
The cost of new robots is putting us off in terms of investment.
Is it viable to set up a 2 robot unit / 120 cows AYR calving with second hand robots
How much can be saved with older robots...
I watch it regularly and think it’s great, but I thought he was being a bit soft saying he’s having a day off tomorrow.
We all have days that are “steadier” now & again.
But a day off ?
Am I being harsh ?
Perhaps it’s tiring knowing you have to perform in front of a camera regularly ?
Or...
Why are dealers so slow ?
We are looking to change our JCB for an ex-demo one & have had local 2 JCB dealers come & look at our old one.
(It's a 2019 542-70 so hardly a nail !)
Fed up with waiting my brother put it on marketplace (& one of the 2 reps replied with "is this still available ?)

Hi all,
We’ve been using Landmark Accounts for nearly 20 years with my Mother doing the book keeping. It’s done us well but offers more (at a cost) than we really need.
One of us needs to take over from Mother as none of us are getting any younger and is it a good time to switch to Xero ...
We have a 2012 Honda 420.
When it gets warm it runs rough - like dirty petrol (it isn’t) then won’t run.
When it’s cooled down it goes again.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
We have 2 x T7s & the beacons have stopped working on both.
mid it a common problem ?
The actual beacons are ok,

TIA
How many l/ha Glyphosate & how many l/ha 2,4D do you need on rape stables pre-drilling
We’d normally use 3 l/ha glyphosate but some rape volunteers are strong
Thanks
We have 550 store lambs left and are currently mob grazing them on 18 acres of herbal ley, just wondered if we should be grazing the stronger lambs on some nearby beet to push them on?
Obviously we will lose beet yield going this early, but it is almost surplus with the amount of turnips we have...
I’m looking for a laser printer that’ll do A4 & A5, wifi and not cost a fortune in ink (or to buy)
we print approx 300 A5 bills a month and
maybe (?) 200 A4 bills a month
recommendations please ?
Apart from the obvious keeping doors closed and blocking all gaps etc, are there any useful tips for keeping / controlling sparrows ?
We've found they are pushing eaves fillers out & have had to batten them in place.
We can't think of an easy way of netting under the eaves.
TIA
We've just bought a weed wiper and want to clean up thistles & docks in a herbal ley, there's also a lot of fat hen
What are the best chemicals to use ?
Should it be just glyphosate or can we use something with a quicker kill like thislex / Pivotal / Prevail etc
A non farming friend in our village bought a dilapidated farmhouse a couple of years ago and is doing it up.
He told me tonight he’s in trouble because he had one of the outhouses dismantled without realising there were bats about.
He told his architect/builder and has self reported himself...
