    Grassland starts

If the disc is tight on the back body first run there will be no grass in the crown. Similarly lower the front disc and nip it op to do the same on the second run. The back disc on the second run needs to be set where you intend to plough the plot. I never bothered changing shares.

    Grassland starts

Might just need a couple of attempts to get to know where to run. Make sure the outside of the rear wheel runs up to the second furr of the first run. Don’t forget the plough is wound fairly well up on the front so naturally hangs over toward the work. On strong land one of the hardest things to...

If you have a sloping bonnet then the greater probability is that you have a windscreen. Put a mark on that using a line of tape

    Late Great ploughmen

In all fairness I believe that was done by Ransomes in house after they were notified of a win with a Ransomes plough. They definitely all look very similar if not the same

    New Highway code rules ffs

Oft been said on here that, after struggling for miles to pass a cyclist, once you get to the next junction or set of lights, they come past and get to the front of the queue. Little wonder then that we have shedloads of irate drivers, many of them who think as a post on FB said today …. ‘It’s...

    New Highway code rules ffs

Ok sorry but the vast amount of public funds directed at a specific group of people who do not actually intend to use the resource created is fundamentally wrong - especially when it has been done with their safety in mind. Here in Leeds vast swathes of road widening have taken place with...

    Late Great ploughmen

Rest in peace Mick. Great and very successful ploughman who was a real ambassador for competitive ploughing. Always helpful, courteous and usually somewhere in the prizes, he seldom missed local matches and could usually be seen along with his two best buddies, John Milnes and Stuart Burden...

    Countersinking disc bolts

If you do go down the mag drill route then look at Hole Maker Technology. They have all the usual adaptors plus a versadrive system that can be used in both mag drills and pistol drills. I have easily drilled 54 mm diameter holes with a hand held pistol drill using this system - perfect for...

    Keeping parallel to your Neighbour

Dear oh dear. According to the rules ‘you are allowed two runs against your neighbour which are not judged.’ Regardless of how many runs your neighbour does - you are allowed TWO runs. You are not allowed to ‘mark’ your opponents ploughing either with your wheels or your plough. Strictly...

    Mike Childerley

Why the angry reaction Ford 7810. Surely no need for anger over the passing of one of the most honest and pleasant guys ever to grace this planet with his presence. Long may his memory remain.

    Mike Childerley

Sad to comment here that Mike Childerley died a couple of days ago. RIP Mike. A true gentleman. Well known and well liked and loved by many. An honest man. A man of principle, helpful and kind. Good to see The European Vintage Ploughing movement, of which Mike was a big part, commenting through...
