ps we used to apply pre-em but it was too hard on the crop and could not legally get enough active on to do any good! knocked early vigour and rooting hence the crop was not competitive enough

I have stopped using pre-em on spring barley you just cant get enough active on to do any good, as for post em 0.2 Axial for wild oats is all that it gets. I have invested the money in high seed rates, competition is certainly working well on keeping it in check

If you are using a few different types set them up on a platform in a row and make up a 2" line manifold so that you can blend to one outlet. manifold is very easy to put together yourself

On what sprayer?

The CCC/Terpal programme is always the most effective as you avoid the bounce back post GS33 its a bit like gently pumping the brakes all the way down the line. Barley will bounce back even worse following Moddus for some reason?

Have you tested the plant for deficiency? our soils are naturally low in Mg but does not always effect the crop. i have been able to adjust any issues with 2L of Folex Mg at very little cost, SAP testing again at high demand periods in the growing season to check further requirements.

3000 acres, £90/acre you get what you pay for. Plenty of contractors can get beet off in good conditions the real skilled operators will save your hide when things get tricky
