This depends on the model and general condition and if it is on mains or battery operation.
A similar meter with a full mechanical/electrical refurb including all accessories and manual/chart/scales etc., plus a 1 year warranty is £170 on batteries.
Like a s/hand car, it is a bit of an unknown...
Well lets hope the seller can do better. My offer is based on what work i would have to do to the meters to restore them/replace any worn/faulty parts etc. and calibrate them. So I would accept it might be possible to improve on this. However, there are plenty on auction sites that are not...
If you have any 'Risk' cards then one can say Moisture meter says Corn is too wet - miss a turn whilst it dries out.

Marconi first started making Moisture Meters in 1936 - these were mainly for measurement of timber.
So the legacy is almost 90 years.!!
The first grain/crop meters were from the 1940's, although using a slightly different measurement technology.
It was 1949 when the original TF933 model...
Simple answer...
It works because it is a well engineered instrument, rugged enough to stand the rigours of the farm. Reliable (as is proven here) and most importantly repeatable which many others are not. Therefore it is trusted whereas a lot of other name meters are just not in the same...
