Can someone shed some light on this message please, before anyone says “look in the book” can I point out that I’ve been sent the photo by my mates 70 year old mum, he’s out in Nz and his mum uses his tractor to feed out, I don’t want to complicate matters with her and the book
@Phil P
Looking at a tidy 1995 Kuhn fc 250g mower, first of all I’m guessing the 250 is the 8ft and the 300 is the 10ft?
What’s the “G” bit mean?
Anything to look out for?
What’s it worth?
Now then, I've got some round baled wholecrop spring barley (or arable silage, I'm not sure what the difference is??)
I've been feeding it to store cattle along with grass silage through the winter, these stores are going soon and there's still some left, so:-
My question is can I feed it to...
Is it possible/feasible in any way to broadcast barley instead of drilling?? Bare in mind I'm not talking big arable acres but a big 5ac [emoji4]destined for wholecrop as part of a rotation in my grass.
My old fert spinner has settings for barley, wheat, rye etc in the calibration chart so...
Just a quick one guys, got a foreigner in the ranks, a jersey heifer. She's out of an old jersey we bought to nurse calves who turned out to be in calf herself.
She's 17months old now, not gone to the bull yet, what's she worth?
@jimmer
Now then, mare of mine has got a 10cube enduramax tank for carting liquid fert, currently rides round in a silage trailer, he's looking to convert a hgv drawbar trailer to put the tank on permanently.
The trailer is 24ft long and the tank is about 14ft so there's plenty of room to get the tank...
Has anybody got a rough idea of how much it'd be to put hydraulics for a breaker on a 7 ton machine, bit vague/general i know but I'm thinking about a 1996 cat 307 that hasn't got any on and I'll need them in the not too distant future
Right then chaps, bare with me
New artic bale trailer is abit of a weapon, 40 odd foot of gatepost abusing pleasure[emoji4]
Before I attack it with the bottles I'm determined to have a lash at using it as it is, I've got to make up a new bogey/dolly (delete as aplicacable to suit local...
Firstly what's the age after which a calf needs to be tb tested, I'm thinking 6 weeks but want to double check
Secondly does that (6week?) age still count if it has already left its holding of birth?
What I'm thinking of is getting some b&w bull calves direct from farm at a week old, then...
Similar question to the silage trailer thread really chaps, aiming to get a new bale trailer this year, pretty much decided on a 22ft (21ft with optional extra foot) Marshall, nowt fancy, 6 stud hubs etc. my question is should I go for springs or rocker bogies? The consensus seems to be for...
Happens overnight, 1 bale un-patchable (I'll feed that today) several others needing extensive repairs, you can see the repairs from the last time a few nights ago (I bale had to be used straight away last time as well
Definitely not dogs (ours never go down there) and I'm sure out solitary...
Right guys, hypothetical question here for you.
My "friend" is based on a small place of about 30ac grass and 10ac woodland, this farm is owned by him and his parents (they are all trustees) and is farmed by him and his wife in partnership along with contracting, there's bugger all in the bank...
As a follow on to @thickfarmers goat milking thread it'd be interesting to know people's thoughts/experiences on milking sheep, I don't have a "friend" that wants to know-I'm just curious.............
What is there to know about applying this stuff? Presumably it needs to be continuously agitated to keep it mobile, how extensive are the mods needed on a sprayer?

After a factory (?) fl+pto for our 3075, looking on 'tinternet German spec tractors seen to have them regularly
Like this one
Oh and a set of wheels like this wouldn't go amiss either!
As above, anybody with any experience of rearing calves in poly tunnels? I'm thinking instead of hutches and we'd be able to lamb in them as well if needs be
Got a winter barley stubble, once I've got the bales shifted was thinking of putting stubble turnips in to over winter some yearling cattle on (or the ewes if needs be)
The basics really, when, what variety, how much, fert etc?
Oh, I'm in shropshire
