I wonder what Mr Monbiot thinks about the vast herds of herbivores in Africa and formerly (before white man killed em all) in the American prairies? They obviously kept the woodland at bay over vast areas.
I’ve never seen a vertically mounted number plate: what are they on about? You’d have to cock your head to read it surely? Number plates are all mounted horizontally, aren’t they? I’m baffled (doesn’t take much mind)!
Pity all that flammable material couldn’t have been burnt in a power station, instead of being left on the floor. Would that be completely impractical?

It’s not as simple as that though. How much game cover is being planted that also benefits small birds? How many Magpies, Crows and Foxes are culled, and how much does that benefit other wildlife? How much woodland is planted etc etc? Then there’s the associated employment and gun trades etc...
I think the general public can relate to a Union Jack on their packaging: that’s as complicated as it needs to get. Oh, and ‘Organic’ labelling where appropriate.
Just to add- it is a criminal offence (section 34 Road Traffic Act) to use a motor vehicle on a footpath or bridleway without the landowners permission.
