Who is doing one and what are you using .
Forecast after Wednesday is looking dry and warmer, so wondering if there’s much to be gained, other than piece of mind .
As per title.
I am thinking of dropping winter barley and reducing wheat in favour of spring crops grown with plenty of pig muck under them .
What’s everyone’s thoughts ?
I had an email today, informing me how many points I need to get in the next 12 months.
Considering we’ve been in the pandemic since March, and some of us have also been shielding, with no events, field trials or even close contact with agronomists . Don’t you think they would’ve rolled things...
I’m putting in some bird bumblebee mix on a few acres in a STEPs agreement ( Severn Trent water )
A mix of 5 seed bearing and 6 flowering plants, so all sizes from cereals to oxe eye daisy.
Obviously can’t drill very deep at all.
Got to be in by 15th sept. Is it better to crack on now while...
Started drilling maize yesterday . Was very surprised to see the colour of the DAP. Neither myself or contractor had ever seen anything like it . Call reputable supplier and after calling Glasson, was told the Russians add molasses to it for the Brazilian market .(why)
Anyone else seen it black...
As title really.
What are cattle sheds worth this winter. Mains water provided. Feed and bedding supplied by owner of cattle who would pop round to feed and bed . Probably want use of my loader though .
Clover grows well here, but I think it’s got a bit out of hand this year.
First pic is year 3 of a 6 year ley. Been silaged and grazed( probably too hard last year). Getting a bit docky as well, so might get put into wheat this year.
Second pic is 1st year of a 5 yr ley, sown last autumn. Had...

my yearling cattle have been charging around the field at times this week, with tails in the air. I think it’s a bit too early to be bothered by flies. My dad used to say they’d got the briz, years ago, as they’d often do it after being injected with a wormer. Think it was ivomec, but can’t...
anyone know how to access the roof of said combine. My old class had a button in the back of the cab and the roof popped up on struts . Can’t see anything on the NH.
maybe something that should be circulated to the wider press, to show farmers are responsible when it comes to the environment . Severn Trent pay a nice bonus on top of the standard £8/ha.
Money spent to encourage farmers, saves ten times as much in water treatment .
