Importing stuff now takes ???? Longer

It's a buying/selling outside of your customs zone thing. Many UK sellers are not setup for exporting to a different customs zone. They should not charge VAT for good being exported out of the UK, but it's a tiny proportion of their sales and the paperwork is a hassle so they don't bother and...

Adding spools via adapter top plate - Ford 4100 (1977)

As I understand you want to put in the adapter plate and keep your current spool on top of it? Yeah, that's fine, it's exactly how the plate works. I still tip a trailer or run the log splitter off the old three way valve on top of the adapter plate.

Painting a plywood partition - recommendations for paint please :)

My garage here is lined with ply painted with cheap masonry paint, worked a treat. my only advice would be to seal the nail/screw heads with a lick of oil based gloss before you start so that they don't rust stain through the emulsion.

    Rust Removal

Evaporust and Deox are I think primarily citric acid. I've a tub of deox that'll last me a long time but when it goes I'm going to try some citric acid.

Rain water harvesting on a small scale.

Plumbed right sediment shouldn't be an issue. Direct the incoming water into a corner so it runs down the walls not splashing in from above. Take your outlet from a few inches up. Unless you're drawing from the tank when it's low and it's just rained really heavily then sediment should settle...

What type/make of gloves do you use in workshop/ on machinery?

Generally have three types of gloves on the go. Milkers brand black nitrile or tiger grip orange nitrile, both very good tear resistance, for really oily jobs. General work maxiflex Vibrating work maxiflex thermal, have thicker rubber and a thick knitted inner, but very soft, stops the...

    I admit, I have a workshop tool addiction :-)

I've recently bought this guy: https://www.foxwelltool.co.uk/wholesale/nt650-auto-code-reader-service-reset-scan-tool.html and am very impressed. have had the normal wifi dongle for a few years and have had one or two hacked brand specific cables in the past. this is probably able for a...

    Tesla power wall

That's the key. Tesla are great for generating interest ahead of availability, sometimes that works out for them, sometimes it doesn't. So far signs are not promising for the solar roof. Velux were doing solar panels a few years back, don't know if they still are, they were definitely a...

Show us your David Brown Tractor!

Picked up this 880 implematic at the start of December. It's very original, some period mods, only two owners before myself. Doesn't need much doing, rewiring it, water pump and the front axle needs rebuilding after a life loading dung

wow, that one's even dirtier than mine. Looking at that picture and mine I'm wondering if my drawbar is going to be a problem, the bowl is bigger than I expected. If mine is in good condition is there any reason to change it? is the later model a better job anyway or were the later models...
