Everyone is getting excited about this, but is not the livestock farmer happy that a shortfall in cereals can be offset with imports rather than pay £500 / ton for barley?

Have cut back here. Easier this year with a bit under 500.
Most we did ourselves was 800. All outdoors.
Me and Mrs who takes a couple weeks off work. Do have a chap come in couple days a week to clean out cattle and help catch up.
Few mention other workload. We always seem to end up with some...
They're not always willing. And can be clueless. Remember it's compulsory for even the ones that never intend going anywhere near large animals again.
That said, there are some really good ones.

Uncle did. There was another lot there between them and when Uncle farmed some of it.

Met office have been so far out with their longer term forecast this week, going from a depressing no hope on the 4-5 week horizon to high pressure taking over in 24 hours or so.

I have an alloy crook specially designed for lamb necks. Once caught they don't slip out, just spin around.
Was sceptical when uncle told me I needed 1, but wouldn't be without now, 8 years later!

A guardian dog doesn't round up sheep as such. It lives with them and protects against intruders , of any type.
As MRT says, it needs to be trained from a young age.
Plenty of shepherding breeds of dogs will show inclination to work even without training. However please don't allow an untrained...
These will be 1-2 weeks.
Reason I haven't really sold them in past is because by the time I have lambs available, everybody has, and price is on floor.
Will stick with 15 I think.
