how long are these farmers signed up to sfi tied into it just this year or a few years? could be a mad scramble for them to get out of if we really do see a drought in russia, thats a game changer
another simpleton comment........crops yields were less than 50% back then, synthetic fertiliser wasnt widely used and youve missed the obvious fact that 1/3 of the land was used to feed the horses..........
this has been my point.....had production in this country not been reduced so much the last few years then these "supply" issues would have had much less affect on the price here
FINALLY.........correction they are the result of transportation issues/export bans AND less domestic supply to fill the gap...therefore price goes up.......to the moon this year
you were completely oblivious to the record prices in the UK and auctioneers phoning up saying cattle/sheep prices were on the rise and they were short of numbers

Does taking large amounts of land in the uk, destocking the hills and dispersing a large % of our beef herds have ANY affect on UK food prices?
