    Spot Spraying technology

I bumped into an article about spot spraying technology, like Trimble's WeedSeeker Is it a thing here in the UK? I can't imagine it being effective on wheat fields. Anyone know what kind of crops this might be suitable for?

    DIY RTK base station

Apologies if this has been asked before. I'm looking into building my own RTK base station (perhaps with an ArduSimple or the like), but I'm not sure how it'd stack up against properly installed professional RTK base stations that cost £10k. Are "home made" RTK base stations less reliable? How...

    PWM solenoid valves

Sure. I just don't quite get how the plunger is capable of shutting off the valve given the short travel distance. Do you know if the liquid supply go straight down in the valve or does it make a turn toward the solenoid? I wish there was an intersection view of the design of the valve.

    Sprayer boom solenoid valves

Hi I'm looking at fitting a couple solenoid valves on our sprayer boom. Does anyone know of some economical (reasonably reliable) boomspray solenoid valves? Teejet seems to be a popular brand, but their solenoid valves are fairly pricey. Any pointer would be appreciated. Thanks.

    PWM on sprayer

Right. Do you know how much more PWM solenoids cost? AFAIK, PWM solenoids used in automatic transmissions cost just around £20 each.

    PWM solenoid valves

Hi I'm trying to figure out how PWM solenoid valves work. Here's a disassembly I've found: AFAIK, the unit on the right with a wire is a solenoid whereas the left is a valve body where the feed is at the top. The way I understand it is that the valve is controlled by a plunger in the...

    PWM on sprayer

Anyone know why PWM sprayers cost so much though? Do PWM nozzles really cost that much more than conventional ones?

    How WeedSeeker is installed?

This site seems to suggest that it's around $5000 per metre https://www.weeklytimesnow.com.au/machine/weed-sensor-saves-bucketloads/news-story/5a1b5b67ab193c4ccb0b5c480880ca98

    How WeedSeeker is installed?

Interesting. If my reading is correct, WeedIt is a trailed sprayer, which might explain the high price tag. I think the WeedSeeker are just sensor modules, which are fitted onto third-party booms. I wonder how these modules are supposed to be plumbed, powered, fixed, etc.

    How WeedSeeker is installed?

Hi I've noticed a spot weeding device called WeedSeeker https://agriculture.trimble.com/product/weedseeker-spot-spray-system/, but it seems to come as a plastic box. Does anyone know how it's meant to be fitted on the boom? And how about the plumbing, power, etc.? Is the user supposed to strip...

    Sprayer with foldable boom

Hi all, I'm after a sprayer and noticed that most sprayers have foldable booms. However, some appear to fold up at a 45 degree angle, as below: whilst some fold inward: Does anyone know which style is better, and why? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Why are scarecrows much less common?

Hi I see that many farms these days don't seem to have scarecrows in farms any more. How do farmers discourage birds from feeding on crops? Are scarecrows obsolete because of some modern methods? Thanks
