    Depending on the digger, if it has a king post rather than a mono boom offsetting the boom one way or the other helps you just have to look out of the door or the window rather than straight ahead

    The ditch I was digging in the photo was a soak dyke. The spoil that came out will be used by the middle level to help raise the bank heights alongside Bevills Leam

    Had this one made by BMC Buckets, sides are adjustable, can go from about three metres wide at the top to about five metres. Bottom width is 600mm

    As far as I am aware it's their own cutting units. I have also got an old 3m basket from the same firm that I have taken the cutting parts off and welded on a cutting edge which I use if there's a lot of bulrush

    It's a 4.2m Engineering and Hire bucket, it's not as lightweight as a herder but doesn't bend if you catch any submerged bog oaks that are in some of the drains. I can do a full 360 with it. It's brilliant to be able to reach out sideways under electric cables without having to have the machine...
