Thanks wuddy. I'd love to see the hook as I considered this but couldn't figure how to do it.

Bourgault VOS Horsch Co / Sprinter Conversions

I talked with Stuart in Bourgault this morning and am going to follow a couple of his suggestions. The Bourgault leg, as you can see from the photos, has 2 pairs of holes for mounting to the Horsch leg. I used the upper pair as I could not get enough depth in the lower ones (this is probably...

Bourgault VOS Horsch Co / Sprinter Conversions

Very impressed with your tine wear. I fitted a set of Bourgault VOS on my CO4 350ha ago and have lost 3 feet in my last 3 days drilling. I haven't found the feet yet so I can't be certain, but I suspect that they are breaking off due to heavy wear above the front toe, as I see small holes in...

    Clover understorey trial

I have tried yellow trefoil broadcast on SB after herbicide but the trefoil was much too vigorous and the crop did not tiller. Plan to try this with white and subterranean clover shortly and see how long I can maintain the clover.

    Metcalfe coulters with bean tubes

We made a set ourselves this year for peas and beans. It's a seed pipe without the pinch at the bottom and a little hardfacing where the sides are exposed behind the coulter tip. It worked fine and you wouldn't really see the extra disturbance.

    My new drill #pimpmydrill part 2 !

We made the video last April on our first outing with the Metcalf tines. Bought the 4CO in March and sowed barley and peas with Duetts mostly after a light run of a disc. Cultivation was to open ground that seemed to have tightened on top after a very wet winter and maybe inadequate green cover...

    Cover crop before Peas

Shopping around today. If I find a premix at the right price I'll use it or else use 5kg/ha phacelia and 20kg or so of buckwheat. I may use a Horsch CO with Metcalf coulter and sow them individually in an X-pattern if the weather is nice and relaxed. Just feeling my way around cover crops too.

    Cover crop before Peas

We are thinking of phacelia and buckwheat after spring barley ahead of peas. Found tillage radish hard to kill in peas this year so going to avoid brassicas.

    Buckwheat brought to harvest??

http://www.homesteadorganics.ca/buckwheat-production.aspx This is a Canadian site with some information on buckwheat for seed. It is a traditional crop in Brittany where the flour is used for savoury pancakes. I am looking for some information from there. I have 2 ha of poor ground I am...
