    Alkaforage

It was just a recommendation from my nutritionist to see us through. Contemplated Trafford gold also because of Supergrains supply being a pain in the ass. So no one’s used this product, il be the Guinea pig 🤣🤣 if no one has already guessed im totally winging farming, sometimes maybe good...

    Alkaforage

Thanks for that link I couldnt find anything online! Cost is £227. I’m thinking it’s worth a try, I’m struggling with fat and protein and the analysis looks like it should help with that

    Alkaforage

Has anyone used this? 90% dry matter 14% protein, Supergrains really unreliable, got 2 loads in fairly quick succession and now shut down for 2 weeks. Alkaforage sounds expensive but looks to be cheaper on a dry matter basis,

    Milk Price Tracker

Shares struggling to get above 30p! I think the only way their value will go up is if they recruit a lot of members and increase demand to take the capital payment away

It’s a pain in the arse, can hardly insert a cow if the auto id misses one. I don’t need any more rage when I’m milking

    Boumatic milking parlours.

No major problems, issue at the minute is the back up, the main service guy is off sick and it’s a struggle getting them out to problems. In general a great parlour. The Key pads are a pain in the arse

    Silage replacer

Are you feeding anything along with the silage? Yes my 800 ton budget would be if they were in year round, I think il keep 40 or so bulling heifers inside to serve with sexed. It’s those ones that Iv never kept in before that I’m not sure if il have silage for, to keep them in 30kg a day 160...

    Silage replacer

Of course I never intend on making second rate silage, but it does happen. And this gets fed to youngstock.

We will use that for youngstock and dry cows, we slurry what we can

    Silage replacer

Our bulling/incalve heifers will eat around 800 ton of pit silage a year, 30£ a ton silage as it doesn’t need to be great stuff, it’s cheaper than 2.5k a heifer bought in. That will probably rise down to the fact cost of rearing being expensive.

    Silage replacer

We will be well under a cow an acre, plenty farms in my region well over a cow an acre, I don’t think it will just be me who will be environmentally disadvantaged. Things really are heading for a reduction in food
