    Ewes not mothering twins properly

I have had it with texal x ewes this year some of them are shocking mothers I thought I could handle it with the extra value of the cull ewe and it's lambs for the hassle but as the flock moves more and more to them from mules it's getting out of hand 30 adopters full most lambing time is no...

What age do people ovivac lambs?

Wouldn't take advice from me. I have seen big losses from pulpy kidney from unvaccinated lambs. I have seen big losses from pasturella from vaccinated lambs. Crovexin is worth every penny O vivac, heptavac I would question if it's worth the premium

What age do people ovivac lambs?

I am one of those naughty people that do them them twice with O vivac as lambs then jab them once a year with heptavac. Should do replacements later on with two C rovexins cheaper way to get them into heptavac system

    sheep abortion

I thought they would be best ran with the flock after lambing to help build passive immunity? Going to vaccinate all hoggs and hope ewes will have had some exposure by next year. You did well to get them to stop. Seem to get more and more every day just hope the nearer to lambing I get the...

    sheep abortion

Positive test result finally in. Campylobacter 3 weeks after I sent the 1st set of lambs in. Verdict not much I can do now as I am so close to lambing (8days). Not much fun when there's about 8-10 ewes aborting a day. I have learned that it's better to send as many fresh samples in as...

    Store Lamb Profitablity

Will the new lamb teeth rule make long keep stores more appealing to buyers and ruin spring lamb trade?

    sheep abortion

I hope it is campy; at least I can vaccinate for it. Tests are slow to come back and inconclusive is frustrating.

    sheep abortion

Ten days off lambing. Abortion kicking up a gear with about ten a day nearly 100 total. Vets still inconclusive on lambs sent in. Getting a few live lambs but none have made it 24 hours yet. Is this a sign or a clue to what it could be? Tests negative for enzo and toxo

    Store Lamb Profitablity

Sealed w="robcarrick, post: 4954432, member: 88064"]I agree with not jumping in when the lights on green, but roughly costing 60 pounds to buy and finish the lambs, a usual year going off the last 5 year average of 185-190ppk in March? Surely there’s a margin at 80 pounds with the sufficient...

    'buying in pet lambs

OTE="neilo, post: 4939934, member: 348"]If I can sell an mature aborted cull ewe at £80-90 currently, and replace her by retaining an extra ewe lamb at £80 (to cover abortion vacs etc), I would think it a no brainer personally, even more so considering the problems we’ve bought in with pet lambs...

    'buying in pet lambs

It's not the ewes fault she aborted. Can't justify cashing her unless a poor ewe. Replacements are in short supply. Just cost a couple of quid to run on a bit of poor ground out the way till back end. Couldn't help myself and got some of neighbour who I border anyway.
