You could spec an SE how you wanted. I bought a new 6320se in 2004 and specced it with the tyres I wanted , economy pto, airseat, and various other bits that were not standard, that I've long forgotten. Will never be for sale though.
Mongrels - hybrid vigour important for fertility, health and longevity. Mainly sim x angus but some dairy, devon, murray grey, saler and hereford in the mix.
Bull in all year. Cows with heifer calves separated at 5/6 months. Average calving interval 101/2 months so a free calf every 6 years.
Calves weaned at 9 months so cows fairly lean at calving and hardly any assisted calvings.
Caught a polecat in a rat trap a few weeks ago and released it as figured it may be doing some good. Until then I never knew we had polecats in the vicinity. Gather they have been making their way westwards.
Electric engagement is rubbish on my Isuzu too. What was wrong with 4wd selection on a stick ? Only !00% reliable 4wd I've had has been Subaru (I've had 7 of them all taken to high mileages).
I'm going away from pure lleyns to home bred mongrels using lleyn x texel and texel x romney tups. on the pure ewes. Also trying char x tex as a terminal.
Just need to think of a fancy name and call them 'composites.
TR250,
Never actually managed to drain a 5ah battery crutching - would guess a couple of hours at least. They last 30 to 40 minutes chainsawing which is much heavier work.
Cheapest 5ah Makita batteries are Screwfix - brushless combi drill , case , charger and 2 batteries for little more than...
Brilliant bit of kit in my opinion. Batteries on the Welsh Shearing one getting a bit tired after 5 years. Since I already have loads of Makita kit and 5ah batteries it was obvious route to take. Certainly notice extra power of 18 volts and the variable speed has turned out more useful than I...
I 've had a few MG cross suckler cows over the years. Easy calving and very long lasting ( 18 to 20 years not uncommon). Don't seem to be around now though.
Down to last couple of dozen to lamb so have stopped the TMR. Ewes that were content and placid when ration always in front of them now blart every time they see someone and chase anyone with a bucket.
With your number of ewes TMR is the way forward but can get complicated, with more storage...
Definitely need another tractor if chopping bales.
Round bale silage, rolled barley, soya/rapemeal blend, minerals and molasses make up my TMR.
Done every second day, any left scooped up and given to cattle before fresh put out.
Fed in front of barrier but needs pushing up a couple of...
I like to buy from pedigree dispersal sales where you can see whole herd. Prefer to buy a cow with bull calf at foot and let him grow on naturally. Obviously no good if you want one quickly.
Do not know any spec but Stockpen (www.stockpen.co.uk are advertising 60ft holding pen plus 20 ft race for £2190 plus £100 delivery plus vat in this months NFU mag. Looks similar to all the others. My original IAE system 20 odd years ago was £999 and is like new.Since added extra hurdles and a...
