I’ve fly sprayed and ivomeced my 12 month old heifers already to try to stop this problem but ours is also associated with a bad wart problem. But I think flies are the underlying issue. Since we don’t rear them close to a big river things have improved a slight bit. I’m not sure if out...
Bought a 2nd hand spreadabale 3 years ago, absolute game changer for us spring calving, calves and calving cows get bedded without reminding people now, easy to just use part bales rather than people getting tired with a pick or shaking the hell out of the grab.
No bolusing here last 2 years, 85% 6w ic rate last year, 8% nic in 10w. All I do is mag chloride in water.
First year I tried every other cow, then following year late and older cows. Didn’t see any difference in ones bolused or not.
Reviving this topic, just wondering if anyone’s still doing this?
I’ve got quite alot of heifers that arnt lying in cubicles and wondered how close to calving can you do them?
Just been awarded a good amount to cover some unroofed yards and a roof for a silage clamp that is yet to be build(replacing existing non saffo compliant clamp with new one in existing location).
couple of queries:-
1. Can we draw down stage payments on individual areas that are to be roofed? (...
We’ve had it creeping in here, milk test all cows before breeding. Don’t serve any heifers to dairy when there dam has tested positive.
All Nic cows blood tested
Snap ours is 10% down though, wet March and April poached the ground and pushed all air out of it, in May/june drougt baked it so hard cracks were as wide as your fingers, 1st cut quality poor as contractors were flat out playing catch up and some went too dry. Paddocks were thin, crap August...
I have done that once already, I didn’t remove the belt but did get the airline in there and give what I could see a good clean up, I guess the belt needs to be fully slack/removed to clean the rollers properly?
I can’t get the conveyor belt on my ag maxi to run straight. Even when adjusted it keeps wondering to the edge a day or so after and starts slipping and the belt then moves very slowly.
I presume the conveyor belt is worn and a new one should stop it wondering out of alignment?

Things I did to solve white line in our herd (5000L grazing spring calving)
1. Don’t breed from persistent offenders, look at previous generations
2. Use NZ genetics
3. Increase feed space in yard (front feet mainly)
4. Keep water off of tracks
5. Keep maintenance up on tracks
6. Attend/study...
You have to get Kristal down with a laptop. It’s meant to stop at 3.4 but tanker always says 2.25 or below. Trying to get Kristal to do it when an engineer was passing was near impossible
