I used to cut down, longer rasp bars to suit, but make sure the pair fitting opposite each other weigh the same, and all within a few grams of each other.
Fit new bolts as well.
Kept a lot of these old deers going cutting down and fabricating sheet parts. No spares at RR now, Dil selling some...
2040s so no turbo, either had previous turbo problem and has been converted, or front tombstone has been replaced with one off a 2140 breaker. What's the numbers on the engine serial number plate. What does the log book say.?
Is it a 2140 or 2040 ? change engine oil first, once oil loses its lubericity the gaskets start to leak.Different issues on turbo and non turbo engines.
There should be a plug in the round hole where you pulled the valve out from, it is held in by the strap. L39035 is the plastic plug you need.
Jd parts catalogue power train-shift valve(contact plug) item no 5.
Welcome to the forum Pat 3040. See answer in your other thread on 3040 oil leak, as seen in your fifth photo, the big core plug behind the strap is missing.
Nothing basic about the OPU cab, it was THE only option at the time, before SG2 cabs, gearstick on the floor on OPU. Side on SG2 and CC2.
Has the biggest core plug dislodged from in front of the shift cover housing? It was a common problem on early OPU cab tractors, there was a mod to replace with plastic plug and a strap screwed to housing and relief groove to drain excess oil from in front of spool.
Leaking transmission oil...
I think the ball bearing has come out of the tow cup above the pinion in the rear axle. By increasing the revs you compensate for the leak. Does Pto or hi-low drop out at low revs?
