    MF200 / MF300 series differences?

Thanks, not worried about a cab, winter days are short here :) Not many 4255's around, a tidy 4355 for 21k. I will keep looking, waiting on Horwards to get back to on prices. Cheers

    MF200 / MF300 series differences?

Hi, we've been looking at getting a MF200 or 300 series, 4wd, from Howards and sons, we want something easy to maintain, front loader and good general field work. Though I've done googling whats the difference between a 290 and 390, or a new 385 made in Turkey/India/Pakistan? The rear arm lift...

    Would you muck them out?

We deep bed here, 3 to 4 months inside, cows, calfs and anything in-between. Normally I found bed problems come from being jewish with the straw and I think that's exacerbated with straw blowers. Tend to put a thin layer on that looks pretty rather than any depth. The top needs to be dry until...

The French farmers are kicking off

I think some of the protest are by young farmers, turnings village/town/city signs upside down. Promised a PAC payment which the government turned around at the 11th hour and trimmed. More over the principle of the matter and holding the Gov accountable rather than the actual amount.

    Baler net knife replacement, OEM?

Good evening, I need to replace the net knife in our John Deere 575 baler, does anyone know if you can buy them from other firms or do I need to get on to John Deere themselves? Tried googling and all I come back with is the chamber knifes. Cheers, James

    Drinking nipples for cattle

Resurrecting a bit of an old thread - does anyone have other brands? Contacted AquaGlobe direct and they currently have no stock of the 1" for cattle, or 3/4" all stainless. Lack of demand they're not bothering to manufacture. Cheers

Barn flooring other than concrete for cattle, deep bed system

only myself to blame! is about 100 to 130 I think, but it would take 80 m3. We just don't have the money this side of winter, and its a bigger job than just putting a pad down if it was done properly. If its not too expensive I would rather an alternative which I can then dig through later...

Barn flooring other than concrete for cattle, deep bed system

Great, thanks for the suggestions - we'll give the local quarry's and ring and see whats available. Hopefully either chalk or calcaire :) We're going to hire in a roller for the job. Is it similar for chalk, do you wet down before compacting or only calcaire? Cheers,

Barn flooring other than concrete for cattle, deep bed system

Good morning. So our main overwinter barn keeps cattle in for about 3 to 4 months with a deep bed system. The problem is the previous owner used a mixture of poor quality concrete, boulders and clay in various spots which is a nightmare come mucking out and then muck spreading. This winter we...

Does anyone know anything about growing Sorghum?

Here more three to four in a season. After first cut on the Sorghum Sudan hybrids they are very aggressive on regrowth. They shunt the roots down deep. Normally its really depressing, can be slow to germinate/lack vigor, sits around short on the surface for about 4 weeks with a couple of leafs...

Does anyone know anything about growing Sorghum?

Water stress then it can be more of a problem - one way around it is to cut a strip and let it wilt in the field 24 hrs and strip graze that way. TBH last year we stripped grazed 6Ha's throughout the summer and we had no rain come May until October. Wasn't a problem grazing, (didn't mow) from...

Compost spreader recommendations? - 3 pnt linkage

The compost they are selling comes in NPK of 08 07 09, Cal 3.6 and Mag 0.5 p/ton. Dry matter of 60% and organic 24%. For each ton upto 80 grams of plastic according to the tech sheet! But then how much plastic or nylon do we put on the fields from particle residue from using bale net? is it...

Am I over reacting? Being a over the top boring farmer, or just in a January blue so being bit touchy!

We had a local farmer back in Cornwall who was notorious for cutting the back out of peoples hedges over his 50%. Total pr.ick and though he was warned by all the farmers he'd just get a contractor in to do the dirty work peace meal. Left most of the boundaries barren banks. Old thick stock...

Compost spreader recommendations? - 3 pnt linkage

Thanks for the reply and sound sensible advice! We we're looking at spreading about 200 tons a year from a local supplier of vegetable mixed with horse/sheep manure (18 month composting). 13 euros a ton plus delivery, and chicken from a different one who recommend 2 to 4 tons a HA. We do have...

Compost spreader recommendations? - 3 pnt linkage

Good morning! seems far a few between that mount on 3-point linkage. Does anyone have any experience or recommend manufacture? The only half decent one I've found is: https://www.agriaffaires.com/neuf/distributeur-engrais/23902145/gamberini-sco-600-p.html Cheers, James

Vicon vari spreader spreading chicken compost powder?

Quick question, can an old Vicon vari spreader spread composted powder assuming its dry? I guess you would need the agitator in the bottom fitted. Reason is our fields are to steep for a more ordinary flat bed spinner. Cheers

    MF35x hand brake attachment?

Yes, just Sparex/Malpas seem to be no longer stocking the spring repair/ratchet replacement kit (and other mf35 parts which is surprising!) so was trying to avoid splitting the order.

    MF35x hand brake attachment?

Good morning, a quick question. Currently replacing the parts and wondered if anyone has fitted one of these? https://www.malpasonline.co.uk/itm/Tractor-Hand-Brakes/Handbrake-Assembly/41341 https://tracteurbits.com/en/brakes/337-hand-brake.html I can't find any information on how they mount...
